Overnight stay

Stayed for one night whilst on a work trip. There was a nice warm welcome on arrival and a very efficient check in. The room was clean and comfortable and I had a very good nights sleep. There was plenty of hot water. The breakfast was good too, continental but an excellent selection and something for everyone. Would definitely stay again.

My husband and I stayed for 1 night . We booked a twin room as it was the only room left which didn't worry us as we just pushed the beds together . The room was lovely big and clean . Extra pillows in the wardrobe. Staff lovely and friendly. The breakfast was just continental breakfast which my husband loved . I am more of a hot breakfast person so when my husband finished we just popped into the weatherspoons about 1 min walk away from hotel and I had my hot breakfast.
Parking a bit tight.
Lovely gardens
We would stay again
Very disappointed

This hotel first of all messed up the booking so two of us ended up in a standard twin room rather than the booked deluxe double. As a twin room was priced at £60 compared to £79 we should have got £19 off but were only offered £10. Had to pay before we even saw the rooms which I found suspicious. Our room was fine, but nothing amazing. The worst thing about the stay was the breakfast. Booking .com did not say no cooked breakfast so we were very disappointed to find a cold continental, very basic in terms of meat and cheese, and all prep-packed soft croissants. Two boiled eggs left and they declined to cook any more. Whatever happened to the customer comes first? Only a drinks machine, no service. Lots of other customers were moaning. Wish I had read the reviews before I booked.
Over priced room

Booked for a one nights stay with my partner. Well what can I say...the booking when wrong we were informed and we ended up with a twin room instead of deluxe double that we originally book. But we're only given £10 discount even the the difference in room prices was £19!!! The girl on reception had a like or lump it approach about this. Room pretty basic with a beautiful view of brick wall.
So anyway we woke up next morning looking forward to our good ole English fried breakfast included in price but we were very disappointed to find out there was none on offer. Just a very basic continental breakfast on offer, a couple of boiled eggs were here and when asked if there was anymore for my partner we were told that only a few were put out, so first come first served basically!
All in all an over priced b&b with very unfriendly staff with a 'couldn't care less attitude'. Please avoid this place if you can.

A hotel with history, from priestholes that lead to the church accross the street, to the private office of Isambard Kingdom Brunel.
This building is in the process of a long-term restoration while also perfectly keeping up with demand as a local hotel.
Situated right in the heart of the town, it is an ideal location for anyone visiting the area, close to the high street and all local amenities.
The rooms are of a good size, clean and tidy, there are very obvious mordernisation changes to the place, but the old beams are still fully exposed, fireplaces are on show and the character is maintained all over the building.
Car parking is a little tight but again, remember when this place was built, it was meant for usually one horse and cart. Not 8 cars.
Overall, a very nice stay at The Old Vicarage.
