Exceptional

Wow what a great find. The owner had our room ready 4 hours early so we could check in. They have parking. The owner is very very friendly and helpful. The place is spotless and well decorated. Our room was the four poster room and took my breath away. So many excellent little touches. More than enough tea/coffe. A fridge. Sparkly bits and bobs. Lots of towels. Make up mirror with tray so your eyeliner doesn't roll away. Tables and chairs. Blanket if the duvet is too hot. Just superb. Breakfast was served on a hot pls. The food was great. Choices galore. Close to everything pubs/restaurants etc. Cannot recommend this place enough.

Lovely B&B

We stayed over at The Palms in Torquay on our way to Padstow. It's a really nice B&B, clean, friendly owner, a lovely freshly cooked breakfast. There are only two parking spaces but there is a free car park two minutes walk up the road though this is up a steep hill. It's situated one minute's walk from the sea front with plenty of eateries and bars. The only small negative is it's situated up some steep steps, or down if you park round the back, so elderly people may have trouble getting in and out. Otherwise I'd have no hesitation recommending it as a lovely place to stay.

Our second stay

Our first stay last year was so good we returned this year to find new owners... a little worried they might have changed the place but happily found it better than ever! Lena met us at the door and was so lovely we warmed to her instantly. Her husband, previously a chef in London, produced the tastiest breakfasts we've ever had, perfect poached eggs for me and scrambled eggs for my husband along with all the full breakfast trimming, cereal, fruit and toast. We had room number four, which is the four poster bedroom, light, comfortable, clean, everything we could've hoped for. On suite shower room with a very good shower, tea and coffee making facilities in the room with a small fridge, perfect for putting my husbands lactose free milk in. We had some of the best sleep we've had for ages. The hotel is on a hill and there are steps up to the front door and down from the back of the hotel so probably not a good choice for someone in a wheelchair or with serious walking difficulties. However I have arthritis in my knees and managed perfectly well so really it's up to you. All of the hotels along the babbacombe road are on a hill and have steps so if you are looking for somewhere to stay in this area and have mobility problems you'll have to ring the hotel to double check their access. There are a couple of small parking spaces at the back of the hotel with further parking a little way up the hill in a residents only carpark area not too far from the hotel, not to far to carry your suitcase from. There are numerous restaurants, cafe bars, fish and chip shops, take aways etc round the harbour, which is a five minute walk away (if that) you will be spoilt for choice. There is a more youthful culture about in the evenings, especially on Friday and Saturday nights but there are plenty of restaurants to avoid the louder crowd if you wish to. My husband and I look forward to returning to Torquay, staying at The Palms Hotel and seeing Lena and her husband again. A delightful five night stay 👍

Lovely 2 night stay

Have not really stayed at a B and B before, but was really impressed with this one.
We stayed here for 2 nights, and had a lovely welcome from a lady named Lena - she was very pleasant and helpful.
We stayed in a nice double room on the top floor with its own bathroom.
Fantastic location, as all the main bars / pubs and clubs are a 2 minute walk down the road. We went to a lovely cocktail bar just down the road!
Lovely full english breakfast as well :)
Thanks lena, we had a great weekend x

A two night stay

Dianawst on 15/09/2017 00:17

A wonderful two night stay at The Palms such a lovely welcome from Lena the proprietor
The room was pleasantly furnished and exceptionally clean and comfortable and the cooked breakfast was so very good it was great value for money and in a good location a short walk to the harbour seafront and shops but what gave it such an excellent rating was the friendly and efficient service
