My wife and I popped into The Punchbowl following a shopping expedition to Oxford. We tried The Crown across the road first but decided to give it a miss because of the bad attitude of one of the bar staff. The Punchbowl bar wasn't exactly busy but we had a thoroughly enjoyable couple of hours there due mainly to the 2 girls behind the bar who were extremely welcoming and thoroughly engaging to us both and our 2 dogs. Thank you, girls!

My friend and I came today for a catch-up meal as we wanted some traditional pub grub with good size portions rather than over priced fancy meals! I had seen the menu online and it looked good.
The members of staff working in the pub were most helpful and enthusiastic, it is nice to see that they obviously enjoy working there and the service was great.
The food - wow! I went for a fish pie and my friend had the steak pie, we both said it was one of the nicest meals out we have ever had. Steak was extremely tender and I would highly recommend the fish pie, very good food portions as it came with chips and veg and overall very good price and experience.
We were sad that we were too full for the lemon meringue cheesecake which we had our eye on but we will definitely be back to try more of the menu which looks delicious!

Eaten twice here over a 4 day weekend visit. Last night had a lovely steak mushroom and Guinness pie with wife having a pork belly special that was the best that ever had anywhere so sincere compliments sent to the kitchen. Highly recommend, nice place with good ambience and friendly staff who were rushed off their feet as short staffed this weekend.

Me, my wife and two daughters visited the quaint market town of Woodstock in Oxfordshire on the evening of Saturday 14th October 2017. We stayed at The Punchbowl Inn which is an eighteenth century public house and as a consequence the attached accommodation comes complete with an array of novelty features including crooked walls, uneven floors and squeeky floorboards. We were allocated a family room (£175) which was spacious enough for the four of us however it was basic and the accommodation is in need of a ‘refresh,’ the bathrooms were very dated, water pressure in the shower very low, the window was cracked and the carpets were generally dirty. The establishment is located on a busy road and when we first arrived the traffic noise in the room was very noticeable however it is fair to say that the traffic eased off at night and as a result all four of us had a good nights sleep. Evening meals and breakfast were served in the restaurant/pub area which is bright and beautiful. The meals were excellent and the staff extremely friendly and I would have no hesitation in recommending the pub for a meal and a pint however if I were you I would give the accommodation a miss.

Booked a night for business reasons as it’s a lovely looking place with its own car park. The reception was warm and efficient, room was clean and fairly well appointed. Neither of us slept at all well. The quilts were very thick so under the quilt quickly became hot and sweaty but with the quilt off was too cold. Neither bed seemed very comfortable and the end result was waking up frequently throughout the night and in my case not sleeping at all between around 2am and 5am. When the alarm went off at 6.45 I felt absolutely awful and a busy day at work was the last thing I wanted. Had difficulty staying awake on the 4hr drive home. Maybe we were unlucky but I wouldn’t stay here again- just because of the terrible nights sleep.
