meeting up with friends of 41 years standing

Everything was first class, the food , the staff, all superb.
The only criticism , was the heating in the hotel was too high, it was like a sauna.
but, this the only down side we could criticise.
Our stay was SUPERB !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good stay

Went to stay for one night with a group of friends and overall it was good. The check in was not exactly prompt as there was only one guy working the bar/ check in and waiter service so do think they need to look at their staffing issues. Our rooms were very nice with lovely comfy bed, spacious room with good amenities. However, we all had a problem with the shower over spilling onto the bathroom floor. Our dinner was quite good but again it was very busy and we were told we would have to wait. We did have a good night and our food was fine.Breakfast for me was fabulous as I am not a big eater at breakfast time but they had exactly the right thing for me - a beautiful berry compote and wonderfully creamy Greek yoghurt. Everybody else had the cooked breakfast enjoyed it too.

Nearly great

Beautiful setting and warm environment. We were seated promptly however from the outset service was lacking, an abundance of young, inexperienced staff meant that we made our own way to our table, were left at times without cutlery, the wine was brought to the table and left unopened, the young children’s plates were hot and had to be changed. The lunch was pretty good. The starter duck hash was a little potato heavy and under seasoned, the roast was pretty good and the wine (when opened) was good. A front of house presence or more experienced service would have made a huge difference here and we left feeling that we probably wouldn’t return, which is a shame because it could be really good.

Disappointing stay

No tea bags in the room only coffee, had dinner on the first night, had to send it back as potato was only warm, came back no warmer, at breakfast the only hot things on the plate were the beans and fresh cooked egg, not enough staff on in the breakfast Room, next day, only thing on the plate that was hot was the egg, and the fried bread was missing, my wife's scrambled eggs were undercooked, nearly impossible to get hand towels out of dispenser in downstairs toilet, and female cleaner walked in on me without checking if anyone was in the toilet, luckily I was washing my hands and not having a wee

Delightful.
