The Retreat is located near Governors House located in Darjeeling. This hotel comes with a view point named Retreat View Point. There are 12 excellent rooms including 2 Suites, 2 Super Deluxe and 8 Deluxe rooms. During my stay here, I was in Suite. It comes with a balcony from where a widest range of the Himalaya along with the peak of Mt. Kanchenjunga was visible. Suite comes with glass toilet and Hot 'n' Cold AC . Restaurant is unique. From each room except room no. 106,105 & 104 , the Himalaya may not be visible since they are in basement. Foods are really yummy. Chef Karma , Manager D.P Sarcar and other team members are really good.
From this hotel, you may see Lebong Cart Ground ( Army cant. ) ,too.

The hotel is close to the raj bhavan and vehicles till the hotel is not allowed. You have to take the bags yourself or help may be at hand from the hotel. The retreat is quite a congested place. But has great views. Darjeeling has its charm wherever you stay. The rooms were just ok some of the laminates especially in bathroom pealing off. But overall clean. The look out from the balcony near the reception is beautifull and so is the sit out. The hotel is not far away from the market place. Actually walking distance. The rooms are downstairs to the reception and was comfortable. The dining area is also on the lower level was ok and clean but not much of a menu. Better to go on and try the market place!

We stayed here in August 2016 and whilst the Hotel itself is quiet basic it makes more than up for it with the views it offers.
The manager was so helpful to guide us around town and arrange for transport on our way back down. The WiFi can be a bit tricky (or was when we stayed)

The location is the only highlight point in this hotel. Better to call it Kanchenjunga view point! No service, kitchen in total disarray, pathetic response. They don't care about their guests. Extremely cold behavior towards their guests.. They didn't respond to our queries throughout our stay there.. Beware of their in house dalals acting as a helping fellow to help you in hiring your cab!!

Excellent location near rajbhawan. Nice hospitality by Mr.Sarkar who takes personal care of all guests. Rooms are good with good view of hills. Local sightseeing can be arranged from hotel. Mall road market and other shopping places are at walkable distance.
