Dignified stone country pub, lovely Teesdale village, unspoilt interior, blazing open fire. What more could you want? Well, we enjoyed the perfect Sunday roast that you hope for but rarely if ever find when eating out. Friendly, professional but unobtrusive service too.

We stayed at one of the most friendliest, welcoming, comfortable hotels in County Durham. The food was delicious. It felt like home from home. The walks around the area are amazing especially High Force. The service - excellent. The room - excellent as was my sleep quality. Thank you to the owners and staff, for an enjoyable stay.

We visited with friens to celebrate my birthday. We received a very warm welcome on our arrival & were shown to our lovely rooms in the main hotel. They were spacious, beautifully decorated & immaculately clean with everything one could need provided. We enjoyed chilled bubbly in the quiet guest lounge prior to dinner served by a very amiable young waiter. Dinner in the atmospheric dining room was superb in every way... beautifully presented, served & utterly delicious...it was a birthday to remember. Breakfast next morning had a wonderful choice of dishes...it was hard to choose!! We cannot wait to return. Well done evryone at the Rose & Crown...you are amazing!!

Stayed for the third time with Milly our dog. She was very impressed with the reception she received, from the warm fire she could lay against to the hosing down facility she had to endure in the rear courtyard after wallowing in the mud. She could make the three flights of stairs to our top floor room much quicker than us but the sitting room in Room 8 meant she could lay on the soft carpet whilst we watched the 42" TV. She also found the staff very friendly towards her and enjoyed the biscuits that were really in the room for our early morning cup of tea. She recommends all dogs to persuade their owners to go there.

We have stayed at the Rose and Crown on many occasions and have enjoyed it every time. We have stayed in the main building and in the courtyard but the rooms are comfortable wherever you stay. The staff are always on hand to help and they add to the pleasure of any stay. Whether it's breakfast or dinner the meals are always delicious.
