Stayed at Royal hotel for Murder Mystery Weekend first time...will not be the last. I did not have big expectations of the hotel because of other reviews here, however I was very pleasantly surprise. My first time doing a Murder Mystery too so I did not know what to expect. What a terrific weekend we had great crack great fun. For value for money it was terrific 2 nights bb plus buffet dinner 1st night and sit down dinner 2nd night 159 pp I shared a twin room with a pal perfectly clean no problems at all. The hotel very comfortable, food absolutely fine, breakfast help yourself absolutely fine, staff excellent, very friendly had to put up with a big crowd of us all letting our hair down for the weekend, couldnt have been nicer. Well done to you all we all felt we could relax, others there made the same comments and others had been previous and thats why they came back too. There was approx 140 there for the event the crack was mighty over the two nights everybody had a laugh. The company HIYA who produced the event were superb. Im not surprised people keep coming back. We took the dart to Dunlaoghaire had a fabulous Saturday afternoon as well. Thank you all we had a very rare super weekend. All of us enjoyed every minute.

This was our 2nd time staying in the hotel for a wedding within a few years and it was even better than the first time as we got to stay 2 nights. The room/bed was very comfortable, the breakfast was very tasty and plentiful and the dinner we had in the restaurant could not be faulted, it was excellent.
The wedding reception was great with all the staff being very helpful and accommodating throughout it and the food was also excellent
There was also live music in the bar in the evening (the day after the wedding) which was a great bonus to our big group of people who stayed over from the wedding. All the staff were very friendly and helpful during our stay which made a super weekend

After making booking had read some negative reviews and did think about cancelling but decided against doing so. On arrival we were greeted warmly and given information about dining times for dinner and breakfast Our room was on the second and was obviously one of the refurbished rooms and although smaller than what we are used to everything else was fine.
We had a two course meal in McGettigans which was lovely (almost too much)Service was excellent
Our breakfast on both mornings was also excellent.
On our return to the hotel on our second day we found that the hotel renovations were continuing quite close to our room and the dust was everywhere Once this was pointed out at reception and the duty manager(Stephen)visited the area we were offered another room.
Being close too where work was being carried out was the only negative to a lovely stay

I stayed here for two nights with a big family group for a celebration. The hotel was really comfortable and the staff couldn't have been nicer. They went out of their way to make us feel at home and were very friendly. We also ate in the bar and in the restaurant and the food was lovely (especially the seafood chowder). It is great value and I would definitely stay there again.

Spent a night here very recently and whilst the facilities, bar areas and food were very good the accommodation was very average. Room was small and dated, also very noisy from early morning with traffic
