One night stay

Stayed for one night while local for work. Hotel is located in centre maybe 20 minutes walk up from the railway station.
Check in was slow, no one at reception and there was a notice up to dial a number for attention, which unfortunately just rang out.
Turned out all staff were in the bar serving a large group attending a psychic night, couldn't have been that good or the psychic would have told them there were people at the reception.
Eventually got checked in and got a room on the top floor, which I was grateful for S the hotel has squeaky floorboards and you would not want someone above you. The room was a bit tired but it was clean, the bathroom looked as if it had been replaced and modernised.
Dinner was served in the bar area, reasonable choice and the food was good.
Breakfast next day was buffet and it was ok, looked after well by attentive staff.
Good Points - Good food and polite staff.
Bad Points - Hotel is tired and in need of some work.
Would I stay here again - would not be my first choice but yes I would stay again.
Basic but does the job

Stayed here for work reasons so the hotel wasn’t chosen by me.
The parking was a nightmare - told to park in the shopping centre that advertised 7am - 7pm. Cost £10 for over 10 hours. Trouble came when the shopping centre didn’t open till 8 which left me stranded and late for my meeting. lugging a suitcase through the town and then through the shopping centre was just a hassle. Asda is round the corner but has a maximum parking time if 3 hours so no good either.
The hotel was quick and easy to check into and I was on the second floor - no lifts and very steep stairs!!!
Room was very small and basic (woodchip wallpaper) with everything feeling very poor quality - small bed, duvet very thin, one pillow, tiny tv not much bigger than an iPad, one coat hanger etc.
Good things were - strong shower with lots of hot water, selection of toiletries, decent tea tray with biscuits, adjustable radiator, window that opened.
Breakfast had a good selection (continental & hot buffet style) with good selection and lovely bread. Only issue was that the cups were tiny and you had to wait for staff to ask for hot drinks - be much easier if these were self service as the juice is!!!
Food in the bar was very good and a decent quality!! They kept serving burgers on chopping boards which is really annoying but we’re very nice, as was the sirloin steak that was delicious.
Only issue was constantly waiting for someone to come to the bar as it was often unstaffed for long periods.
I’d recommend if you don’t have a car and if you prioritise the food over the room.
Simple and clean.

I am guessing this hotel is under renovation - some parts are modern and others are dated. The bathroom was newly fitted but the room itself looked tired. The bed was comfy and the room was clean. The food was good but not outstanding (depended on what you ordered). I got the feeling the staff were a bit overwhelmed as there were 2 events/group bookings staying in the hotel. My room was quiet and peaceful however the floor boards were very creeky so I wouldn’t like to have been on the level below.
Cheap and Nasty

This hotel was horrible - the room was small the check in made me feel unwelcome there is NO car parking so you have to drive around Rugby looking for somewhere to park then walk
the quilt was like a thin biscuit
the bathroom was dirty the carpet was dirty
all the fixtures and fittings were cheap and horrible
the room was cold - v cold
the tv was the size of a postage stamp
it was worse than the worse student accommodation i have seen
and £85 NOT including breakfast is a disgrace
Quaint

One night in a quaint bed and breakfast in the heart of Rugby. It was the first time I stayed in Rugby town centre having visited many times. I stayed at this hotel because it was within budget and I felt like staying at a local place rather than a chain hotel.
The location was easy to get to and free parking was available for early starters. You need to leave before 8am as this is when restricted parking begins. There is an Asda car park waking distance from the hotel and costs £2. I opted for this option as I had a 09.30 start.
The hotel had a country feel to it. It looked and felt like a country pub and had character which I liked. The pub stays open until very late and was very cosy too.
The room was a little dated but the clean white and magnolia walls gave it a fresh spacious feel. The room and bathroom was nice and clean including the carpet. I particularly liked the layout of the room because there was space to walk around.
The breakfast was typical buffet style. I was disappointed they had run out of mushrooms, but they had everything else for an English breakfast.
I would stay at this hotel again and recommend it to others as an alternative to budget chain hotels.
