What People are saying

Great stay

msj65 on 20/11/2017 09:41

We enjoyed three nights at The Spencer Hotel. We had a family suite which had two bedrooms and one large, well appointed ensuite bathroom with separate shower and large soaking tub. Comfortable beds and pillows. Friendly staff that accommodated an early check in upon our arrival from the States. There is an on-site bar and restaurant. Within walking distance to Trinity College, Temple Bar, etc. rooms are very quiet. Very enjoyable stay.

We had a lovely staff

Booked months ago through reservations. No issues and looked after me well. Requested two rooms near each other with balcony view and we got this.
Stayed in room 504 and 505. Eamon in recepion checked us in. A very well mannered young man with an excellent personality for welcoming guests. He was very helpful.
Room was not ready but we expected that as we arrived at half ten in morning. Eamon did ring to say room was ready which was a nice gesture.
Room was lovely. Excellent view. Bed very cosy. Clean bathroom. Pleased overall with room.
Breakfast was very busy. Enjoyed it very much.
Checked out by Stephen. Reception was very busy but he remained calm and pleasant.
Location was super. Roughly 10 minutes to Connolly station and about 15 into O'Connell street and 20 minutes to Temple Bar.
We got a taxi from Arlington hotel at O'Connell bridge to Spencer hotel for 8 euros.
I would llike to return.

Great hotel perfect location

My friends and I had a lovely overnight stay in the Spencer Hotel while in Dublin for a show in the Bord Gais Theatre. From the moment we arrived yesterday until we checked out this morning our experience there was more than satisfactory. From the staff on reception to the restaurant staff, bar staff and housekeeping we were so impressed with their friendliness and helpfulness. One of our group had a minor problem which was dealt with so efficiently and with courtesy by the Manager Elton. We will definitely be using The Spencer again and highly recommend it for the above reasons and also because of its location. It is only a stroll away from the Luas stop and the same from the Bord Gais Theatre. Very suitable for shopping or going to the Theatre.

As good as I remember

lowe999 on 19/11/2017 01:18

After previously staying as a family, my husband and I stayed for two nights 11, 12 November and really enjoyed our stay.

Our room was beautiful and for someone who lives with chronic pain the bed was amazing both in terms of size and comfort.

We used the pool Jacuzzi and steam room also. I love that the changing rooms have hair straighteners and moisturiser.

Lovely meal on the first evening.

Handy for everything.

Staff were lovely and couldn't do more for us.

Breakfast on the first morning was a let down though. Staff seemed really stretched and food wasn't there. Pancake machine ran out of batter, fried eggs arrived after rest of hot food was eaten, no croissants, no glasses for juice, no bowls for cereal.

On the second morning service and food was as remembered from our first visit.

Overall a very nice stay and we will be back.

Nice hotel and close to major attractions

gregmC2000KD on 18/11/2017 22:56

Went here with the family. Decent hotel close to major Dublin attractions and airport. We had a 2 bedroom with a shared bathroom.

Pro:
1) Beds were comfortable
2) Refrigerator in the room - good for small stuff.
3) Bathroom was decent size, clean, great water pressure.
4) Maid service was prompt. Helped us secure a transformer as 13 amp outlets.
5) Safe in room can hold laptop and couple of i-pads
6) Service was good despite limited staffing
7) Vending machine on each floor with soda, chips. There is no on-site shop for toiletries or such - buy ahead of time before arrive to hotel
8) Across the street is a burger place, Asian restaurant and Italian. All good. There is a very small market nearby - almost consider is less than a convenience store if need a soda or two. Not much there.

Con:
1) They could use more help with regard to service. The staff were friendly and there to server, but at times, definitely overwhelmed.
2) Cannot break money to smaller bill - very limited.
3) Hotel hallways and floors could use some new carpet and paint. A bit rundown. Rooms were fine.
4) No bellman (I did not need, but others may).
5) No self printout of airline passes. Though you can ask front desk agent to provide you an email, and they will print it off for you. Just plan ahead, as front desk can be busy.
