After traveling all day, we arrived late at the hotel for an overnight stay. We were going to watch The Lion KIng at the Lyceum Theatre. We had booked a room for 2 adults and 1 child. When we entered our room the sofa bed was not made up ready. We did not have time to call housekeeping and wondered if they make the bed up later in the evening. When we returned quite late and ready for bed the sofa bed had not been made up for our child. We called housekeeping who bought us bedding and a pillow.
We then found that the toilet flush had broken and felt as we all had our nightwear on we decided not to call housekeeping again as we would have probably had to leave the room. It was reported on check out and we were told the manager would contact us as they had our Email address. We have not heard from the manager!!
On a positive note the hotel itself was beautiful and the breakfast which we paid extra for, was a full buffet. All the hotel staff were fantastic.

Perfect location to walk to Covent Garden, down to the river, along the Strand to Regent St. along Piccadilly to Green Park and up to Oxford St.The no9 bus stops nearby on the Strand and goes to Knightsbridge, Hyde Park and the Albert Hall.We always have the same room which looks down the Strand.The staff are so pleasant and really helpful. Breakfast is great and this time we had Afternoon Tea to celebrate my husband's birthday which was fab.Can't wait to come back.

Having a breakfast meeting booked at The Connaught Rooms a colleague and I needed a central London hotel and after much searching and reviewing of comparison sites landed on the Strand Palace .
This hotel is so central and convenient.
It has two entrances with a large well staffed reception.
First impressions is one of slightly dated opulence. It is not a luxury or contemporary hotel. It is however a very large hotel. I am not sure how many rooms but hundreds I am sure.
Check in was swift and easy but we had pre paid.
My room was locate on the fourth floor and was a small single room.
Whilst small if did have everything it needed and was clean with very fresh crisp white sheets.
Couple of down sides to the room. I could not open the window. This is a real issue for me but there was a fan provided.
There was no plug near the bed so at the end of the day when I wanted to use my iPad I had to wait for it to recharge having used it all day.
The bathroom is very small and the toilet roll holder is not accessible if the bathroom door is open.
The corridors are quite drab with pictures only in lift areas. Also quite oppressive with no windows and dark paintwork.
That said these are only aesthetics and the hotel was great value for money and the staff very obliging. When my colleague went to bed she had a room with an adjoining door and the people next door were very loud. She called reception and they quickly Moved her to another room. Great service , over and above.
Absolutely recommend. Great value

Lodging at the Strand puts you within walking distance of many London attractions. Walked to Waterloo Station across the Thames via bridge, to Covent Garden and its diverse and interesting people, great pubs, nightlife, and the many theaters. Room was average, but by being able to open the window and look out on the bustling street below, the room was cool and comfortable for sleeping. Yes, there is city noise, but when the window is closed, very muffled and unnoticeable. Given that pubs close at a relatively early hour, the noise truly disappears until the following morning. Tiny St. Patrick's Catholic church was a refreshing walk across the Thames bridge for daily Mass. St. Clement Danes Anglican Church, dedicated to the free world's Air Forces, was also within walking distance. The Royal Courts of Justice and many, many other historical and architectural sights made every excursion out of the room memorable. Room price reasonable, full English breakfast buffet, Tesco supermarket, Boots pharmacy, mens & women's clothing stores, and computer stores provided anything and everything needed to keep you going all day.

I stayed in single room without a view (window covered with white foil). Very small room and bathroom, but clean and with a good bed (the most important factors in a hotel room). Location is very good, with much of London within a short walk. Very good for a short stay both for business and for vacation, but a bit overpriced.
