Traditional olde world British hospitality

I went here with the family to meet up with friends from overseas who were on a tour of the U.K for dinner.
This is not our normal type of eatery so there was some interpretation especially from the children that there would be both they’d eat in the menu.
We needn’t have worried - it was a superb meal with excellent service, food cooked to order and menu tweaks to cater for all tastes was not a problem. Every dish was presented as close to perfection as was physically possible.
We were a group of eight and everyone was full after the main course - the highlight of the evening was seven people watching me devour and enjoy every mouthful of the most perfect dessert!
This hotel deserves its reputation - it was a warm, friendly and relaxing experience for all ages.
Yes it costs a bit more that some other places but I’d recommend skipping a couple of cheap meal out to savour the experience
Lovely Couple of Days.

Well-established Hotel in the historic village of Lavenham, Suffolk. Excellent staff in all areas, great food, comfortable rooms and an impressive spa.
Outside the atmospheric Swan, the village is stuffed with interesting buildings within easy walking distance and longer routes for those who want more than a quick stroll.

My wife booked a room/meal package with a "superior" room and meal in the Gallery.
The room: Window adjacent and level with the pavement outside, meant that you would probably want to have curtains pulled most of the time. Large comfortable bed and an ambience which was like being in a room in a house (nice).
Less good was the fact that the bathroom had next to no heating (it was freezing in the morning) and beware...there is no sound proofing in the room we stayed in (3). This meant we managed to enjoy the conversation of the people upstairs and a number of other things that I will find difficult to forget.
The bar area was interesting and poignant and the staff were wonderful.
The restaurant is an impressive room and again staff were knowledgable and nice to speak to. The food, in my opinion, was over styled and lacked depth... it was definitely as per the title. Good in places... (at time of stay pea shoots with everything).
Worth what my wife paid?
Just about.
An idyllic hotel to stay

The hotel is 15th century and is so well preserved and full of character. It was fitting that we were staying the weekend of Remembrance Sunday, and were able to soak up the atmosphere of the Airman's Bar. The Gallery restaurant fully deserves it's 2 rosette stars and the meals we had were delicious. All the staff were prepared to go the extra mile in making our stay memorable.
