What can I say that I haven't said before. From the friendly welcome and assistance by the guys at valet parking, all the way through to their sincere farewell on departure. The entire staff know how to make you feel special and that in itself is a rarity in today's mad crazy world.
Because of ongoing medical treatment, we are regular visitors to Melbourne and at the end of a sometimes stressful day, it is so comforting to return to a friendly environment, where you can unwind.
James and his team of professionals look after you as if you are part of their family; very reassuring indeed.

The Grand Mercure is a fantastic hotel located in the melbourne cbd. The very friendly & helpful on check in. The room was a fantastic size, very clean & spacious. The bed was very comfortable. The bar was fantastic, will definitely be returning in the near future

Went on a girls trip to Melbourne and stayed at the swanston, was very pleased with the hotel, was nice and tidy, staff were very lovely and welcoming.
Cocoon bar is great! ✌🏼 lots of things to do, and is in a great location walking distance to everything you need

I was booked into The Swanston Hotel, Grand Mercure for a conference recently. The conference was at the venue so it was convenient. The price was about $215 per night which is reasonable I suppose by Melbourne standards (shocking by world standards). The reception area was ok - a little confusing as to where check in was. The room had its ups and downs. The downside was the shower area and the toilet. I know the room was suitable for disabled use and I appreciate that. I am 6ft3 and the shower head was way too low. It wouldnt hold still so i leant it against the wall and still had to duck down to get any water. The toilet seat would not stay open. Once again I appreciate this was because of the rail for disable use but it is very frustrating to use. Perhaps they might have selected my room with a little more care. The upside was that the bed was comfortable and clean. Despite the inner city position it was reasonably quiet as well. Would I go back? I dont think so - I would look for something a little further out of town in the hope of securing a higher quality room.

I usually stay for two weeks at a time in Melbourne. The staff welcome me like family and always try to accommodate my room location requests. Each room smells clean and is always well made up. Some of the rooms look a bit tired now but I know a refurbishment is underway. Nothing is too much bother and the lovely housekeeping ladies are so accommodating, thanks team... looking forward to the next visit. I stayed in 1202, very quiet and had a good horizon view.
