We had the worst experience we have ever encountered staying at a hotel or resort. The staff were incredibly rude, the room was a disgrace and the food was not enjoyable. We paid for a banquet/show but could not see the entertainment from the low level seating as the show was in a different part of the function area. When we came to settle our account we could not use the local currency and were told to exchange this at the airport but there was no currency exchange facility at the airport.

We stayed at the Tahiti Pearl at either end of our cruise.
Service ranged from exceptional (checkin / reception), to nonexistent (restaurant).
A few key negatives :
1 Service in the restaurant was slow and disinterested
2 A fashion show was held around the pool during the stay. Guests were denied access to the pool area from 4pm, however access was restricted from earlier on in the day
3 The pool is used to run local fitness classes, further restricting access to the pool
4 On the following day the noise from dismantling the runway affected the ambiance, again making lasting by the pool and on the beach less than great
5 My husband slipped on some rocks leaving the pool, leaving one toe blue and another with the nail ripped off. When requesting a bandaid we were advised there was not one available but told we could walk 45 minutes to a pharmacy. There was no concern as to how it happened
6 On night one a very loud dance party was held, finishing at near midnight, another held on night two finishing at 10.30
Some positives:
1 our room was fantastically styled and roomy
2 the gym was well equipped
3 reception / checkin offer great service

We booked a day room after our French Polynesia cruise. The hotel could use a bit of maintenance here and there, especially around the pool areas, but our room was clean and quiet and overlooked the bay. The outdoor restaurant and bar are lovely, service is good, and the food is good as well. Expect a black sand beach, which is OK for walking, not great for swimming or snorkeling, as the water was a bit rough. My only complaint about the room was the huge bathtub that was so high it was difficult getting in and out for a shower. But it beats hanging around Papeete airport waiting for that midnight flight to LAX.

Luckily we were only staying here for 1 night as we were transiting to Bora Bora. The resort is very tired and still showing signs of the former owner (Radisson) with some old signage still visible or haphazardly taped over. The hallways of the buildings aren’t attractive or in the best condition. The room was decent enough and clean but breakfast was mediocre and the buffet not presented well. Looked like a soup kitchen for the poor. The reception staff professional but restaurant staff were distant and not forthcoming or overly friendly. Only stay here if you’re transiting to another destination otherwise you are going to be very disappointed.

The overall view of the hotel is good, petty much enjoy the sunset view, we have had a great time on the Saturday night, happy hours time for drinks at the pool side bar. Room is nice and clean, staffs are all friendly.
