As locations go it doesn't get much better than this hotel. Beautiful view overlooking Vancouver harbor and Stanley park. The property its self is a bit older, but the interior of the hotel is fresh and the rooms are very well appointed. The property is a bit outside of the core downtown of Vancouver, but a walk to Gastown is only about 20 min and there is plenty within walking distance of the hotel. You can also actually go out on the balconies, which it seems is forbidden in a lot of hotels in the US, which is great to take in the fresh air and beautiful views!

I arrived and came to spectacular views from my room.
I had some minor glitches that were ironed out by the morning.
Location is excellent.
Service was consistent and staff is friendly.
I hadn't had time to try the Spa.

The Westin graciously upgraded my wife and I to a corner room with king size bed, unfortunately the room wasn't available when we arrived at 3:00 pm and it took until 4:15 for a room to be available. Again, the Westin stepped up and provided a corner suite. The room was beautiful, as is the location, and we had lunch in the restaurant, service was friendly although a little inattentive and the food was good but not great.

The Westin Bayshore truly defines all that Vancouver has to offer: great views of the coastline and surrounding mountains; clean and modern design features; and easy access to downtown attractions such as Stanley Park. I recently stayed here for 2 nights (Nov 8th and 9th), and I felt that the Westin is a fine hotel.
First, the location is excellent. It is right in the downtown core, within walking distance to Vancouver's amazing shopping, dining and recreational pursuits.
I stayed in a Premier Harbour Room on the fourth floor, complete with floor-to-ceiling glass doors and a Juliet balcony. The view from my room was good. It overlooked the pool/patio area with boats and water in the background.
The room itself was everything one would expect from the Westin hotel chain. The king bed was as heavenly as advertised. It was such a treat to sink into the bed each night. The bathroom was huge, very clean and modern. There were plenty of plush towels and a lovely rain shower.
One morning, I ordered room service for breakfast. The selection was pedestrian- traditional bacon, eggs, cereal, breakfast potatoes and so on. I guess my expectation was that the breakfast menu would offer more diverse and healthier options that reflect Vancouver's trendy dining scene. However, my order was delivered on time and it was very tasty.
My visit to the Westin coincided with the annual conference of a major athletic apparel retailer. From talking with staff, it is my understanding that the attendees took up the vast majority of the hotel. The Westin was hopping with activity during my stay in mid-November.
As noted above, my room directly overlooked the patio area. The conference attendees were outside on the patio partying 'till the wee hours. Guests contemplating booking this hotel should keep in mind that the Westin has extensive conference facilities and is somewhat geared to business travelers. Rooms located in the adjoining Tower may be better suited to families and tourists, or anyone looking for a quiet sleep.

I have stayed at the Bayshore many times but was particularly pleased with the attentiveness of the staff this time. The room was very comfortable and had everything I needed. The concierge services were very efficient.
