River North is my favorite area to stay for a long weekend. This hotel is probably the nicest Westin in the midwest, but I still maintain the entire brand needs a remodel. Rooms are a good size and the beds are comfortable. The staff were ok. My wife wasn't very pleased with some of them during our stay. They could have been nicer and warmer(something I usually expect from an SPG hotel as a platinum member). The bar has a nice beer selection and is fairly quiet for a hotel bar. I would stay here again.

I recently stayed two nights here, and while it was a fine stay, it won't be my first choice on the next visit. There's nothing terribly wrong with the hotel, but there's really nothing special or terribly "right" either. As an SPG Platinum I was a bit disappointed - no offer of a welcome gift, a room "upgrade" only to a club level room (when I believe there were suites available, at least based on the website), and a decidely disappointing club lounge.
The lounge in particular is really quite poor, and I'd advise fellow travelers against paying for a room with lounge access. Perhaps the only way it would make sense to pay is if you're travelling with a large family and aren't particular about meals but just want something free and easy. For those of you who like a glass of wine or a beer, forget it - there is no complimentary alcohol at "happy hour" (ironic quotes!). Also I'd suggest showing up about 30 minutes AFTER the alloted breakfast and "happy hour" starting times, as the staff seems to start setting up at the designated start time, rather than having everything ready at that time. On my final morning I left without any hot breakfast - fully 30 minutes after breakfast service was scheduled to begin - because there was nothing but the cold assortment and various breads/bagels/etc. To be honest even if I did stay again, I probably wouldn't bother with the club lounge; there comes a point where it's better to just go elsewhere and pay out of pocket.
If you can get a good rate, I'd say it's fine, but at their normal rates of around $200 you can do much better in the area.

I stayed at the Westin for a conference in November. The hotel is very centrally located and walkable to State Street shopping, Millennium Park and the Magnificent Mile. River North is home to some of the best restaurants in Chicago too.
Westins promise a relaxing stay, and this location did not disappoint. While the hotel was in the middle of it all, the rooms had upgraded bathrooms, comfortable beds and were quiet. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Chicago.

The bar in the lobby area and the patio overlooking the river is very nice. The location was perfect to walk around River North as well as accessible to the downtown area. Rooms were spacious and very nice.

Ronald (bellhop) provided me with outstanding customer service by going above and beyond when a glass broke in my hotel room. I had checked-in very late/early morning, and Ronald went the extra mile by using a broom to sweep up the broken glass (he did not want to wake other hotel guests.) He arranged to have housekeeping come 1st thing in the morning to have them vacuum the remaining glass off of the floor.
On my last day, I had issues with my bill, and wanted clarification. Front Desk Manager, Shantica, went the extra mile by personally bringing a hard copy to my hotel room to explain charges that I was unsure about.
I want to personally thank you both for all of your hard work and dedication. I felt like a valued guest.
