What People are saying

Terrible experience, slow check in, under staffed in the bar area, slow, slow, slow!

Jhobackatl on 19/11/2017 21:08

This was the worst Westin I've ever experienced and we travel a lot, I'll start with the check in process which was a disaster. We checked in after 3:00 pm and we are Platinum members so the room should have been ready. It was not ready. We were told we'd have an upgraded room and they were out of those at check in. We were fine settling for whatever they had. It still took 20 minutes at check in for them to find us a room and clearly we were not the only ones experiencing this terrible check in. I heard horror stories from other guests as to their experience. We went to their bar to have a drink after finally getting a room and they were way under staffed and the service was slow. I will say the server was very friendly but they needed more staff on hand. Finally when we went to get our car as we were checking out it took way too long! I had to remind them that I had called in ahead of time as they showed no record of me asking for my car. I'll be honest, I'm shocked that this is a Westin. It felt more like a low end hotel chain with the slow service. There are plenty of choices in downtown Memphis. Stay away from this place!

Disappointing Stay .... is check-in really 3 pm?

foodlover0411 on 19/11/2017 15:33

On November 18, my husband and I arrived at the hotel at 230pm. We were informed that the room was unavailable and the time of availability was unknown. We generally stay at this hotel because it is dog friendly and convenient to the arena. Sitting in the lobby we learned that everyone was waiting on a room. Some people arrived after the check in and were told there was a 2 hour delay. There was a family who arrived at 930 am and did not get room until 515 pm. They reserved a 500 suite, and was give a $45 food voucher for the inconvenience ... less than 10% of their room given the inconvenience.
As a result of our delay, we missed a scheduled lunch with friends. Since we had our dog, we were unable to eat in the hotel restaurant or venture elsewhere for a meal. Thus, we were forced to eat at the arena during the game.
As a frequent business traveler, the service was not indicative of Starwood service. Unfortunately, I was told that this is the new norm for this particular hotel. I hope things improve...

Great Stay

A clean, comfortably hotel with a friendly staff and a very convenient location to hang out on Beale Street. Our room did NOT face Beale Street, so we did not have any issues with street noise. There's also a Starbucks right around the corner for morning wake ups. I highly recommend this hotel location (and prices) if you intend to dine and club along Beale Street. Only complaint is; the hotel does NOT have a hot tub. Otherwise... Two thumbs up! =)

Had a Noisy Room - But All Else Was Fine

This is a pleasant, comfortable hotel, with nice rooms, friendly staff and great location, but as previous reviewers have noted, this hotel has noise concerns. Our room was located on the west end of the corridor close to a staff service elevator that was very loud when in use. I was happily offered another room, but it was on the opposite end of the corridor looking out on Beale St. and it’s late music. I love the music on Beale, but not at bed time. I think a room somewhere in the middle facing south would be perfect.

USED to be our go-to hotel

yalibrarian on 13/11/2017 02:53

Our daughter plays collegiate sports in Memphis, so we travel there a lot. The Westin and Doubletree downtown have been our two go-to hotels. Cross off Westin for us. My husband traveled alone for Dad's weekend and went to the hotel bar both Friday and Saturday night. Twelve dollars for a double Knob-creek on Friday. Standard. Saturday night? Three double Beefeater martinis. $120! This wasn't Hendrick's...it was normal Beefeater. My hubby was a bit tipsy Saturday, so took it up Sunday morning sober with the front desk. They blew him off. We had a similar experience last year (an extremely high drink cost), but passed it as a singular occurrence. Couple this with the loud rooms, slow elevators, and urine-smelling parking garage stairwell, suffice it to say this was the last straw. Hello Hampton and Doubletree.
