Stayed here for two nights, and did not want to leave. The hotel is not too large, thus the service is more personal and there are less guests in general.
The beds are super comfortable, naturally, and we thoroughly enjoyed the pool area.
We stayed in a suite, and would recommend it for additional space and for families wiht smaller children.
Big thanks to the GM, Tanya Fleming, for the lovely note and surprise upon arrival. Hope to be back!

The hotel was lovely. The rooms were nice and clean. The staff were above and beyond helpful. I would definitely stay there again... it's about a 15 min ride to shoreline amphitheater, which was the reason I stayed there.

Overall positive experience. We stayed in a preferred guest room on the 5th floor with my Starwood status. The room seemed reasonably large for what I expected in the Bay Area. Perhaps all rooms, including the other floors, are the same size. Room was nicely appointed and hotel seemed to have been renovated over the past five 5 years. Service was good. Only one thing of note, and perhaps a concern only to a few, is that the underground garage is accessed through a very steep driveway. If you have a sport car with low clearance the bottom may scrape (mine barely and surprisingly did not).

Landed in San Jose. It was crazy busy with an Anime convention. People with fox tails and mouse ears everywhere. That's cool if that's your thing but we're just a normal average family of five. Been on planes and airports for six hours. We all felt like we could use a little more elbow room.
Making the short trip to Palo Alto paid off huge.
The Westin is fantastic! Great area. Close to good dining. Close to Stanford U. Everything is clean. The rooms and beds are comfortable, roomy and well decorated. All the staff is very pleasant. The best surprise was the restaurant on premises. The tuna tar tar was a really nice surprise. Steaks were cooked very well. The waiter even asked if the temperature was alright. And it was perfect by the way. Great dessert. Great drinks. The front desk even accommodated a special request for a room for my kids right next door. I could go on and on but I'm gonna get in trouble for texting at lunch. I will always go here when I fly to San Jose. Can't say enough good. Price was great too for same day booking too!

I have been to several Westin Hotels, two on a recent road trip with my dog while my floors were being refinished. It is important to know that pretty much anywhere you stay in Palo Alto during the week is going to be ridiculously expensive. The week-end prices drop substantially.
I believe that a a hotel is "dog friendly" when you are not charged an extra $50 or more for your dog to stay. It is important to be respectful of others when traveling with a pet. I think that my dog is the best but I get that others don't like dogs, have health issues or are just afraid of dogs. Though I didn't use an elevator at this location, I always ask people if they mind riding with a dog and if they do, we wait for the next elevator. I always travel with a fabric collapsible dog crate that makes the dog comfortable no matter where we are because it is familiar and no one who comes in to service the room if I have to step out should ever have to worry about temperament of the dog in the room.
With all of that said, we were warmly welcomed. Everyone from the front desk to the car parkers and cleaning crew were top notch. They couldn't have been nicer to me and my pooch. The hotel was spotless, my stay came with breakfast. There is a pool and a fitness room.
The location was great, 10 min to my kids' house, within walking to Stanford and a cute mall with shops and dining, Town and Country Mall. It also a short drive to the Stanford Mall. Not far by car to downtown Palo Alto. There are more expensive places to stay in this lovely city but this Westin is first class. I would definitely stay there again when in town.
