What People are saying

Second visit, lovely people.

Hfcrystal on 16/11/2017 12:44

This was our second time here this year, we stayed in room 6 which is excellent just like a 5star room. The staff are so friendly, ghandi the barman is great as are Barbara and Duncan and the rest. They all make you feel part of the family. The pub regulars also are really friendly and chat away as if you go there all the time. The food what can I say it is soo good fresh sourced cooked to order, mouthwatering. It is also the hotel, inn, b&b that we have stayed and no charges for taking our dog Jess. They were great with her too always making sure there was fresh water for her. Will definitely be going back.

People buy (and remember) people!

AJGB-HMD on 15/11/2017 10:19

Welcome by Barbara was fantastic and set the tone for the few hours we spent there. Prompt and attentive service throughout. Food was excellent pub-grub style with huge portions both for dinner and breakfast when Duncan was extremely pleasant and informative.

Clearly an establishment 'on the up' - now looking forward to returning when we next visit the North-East.

WAS THE SAT NAV RIGHT?

HONESTY573 on 09/11/2017 22:09

We put the sat have on when we left Alnwick and it took us to what was like travelling to the back of beyond down a single track road and when it said we had reached our destination we were still surrounded by fields. Coming across a postman was very fortunate and he told us to follow him to lowick thank you very much. Travelling the directions given from gentleman in pub was much easier. The building looked exactly as the photograph a good sign. We went into the pub and young barman/receptionist/taking food orders and delivering the food John showed us to the room which was large and comfortable while being dog friendly. We stayed three nights and ate each night in the pub which was typical pub grub but very good as were the very good breakfasts. All the staff were so friendly and every regular acknowledged us while we had conversations and laughs with others even have to mention the shop opposite the pub who were also so very friendly people and very informative. Little touches would have easily obtained five dots eg some paper needed sticking back down in the bathroom. Area around fire in bar sprucing but this would not stop us returning in an instant

A genuinely dog-friendly hotel!!

Stayed at this fabulous inn overnight before exploring the Northumberland coast. Large accessible car park. Lovely restaurant and cosy bar. The bedrooms were large, smart and well equipped, including the little extra touches i.e. Bottles of water, chocolates, face flannels etc as well as the usual tea, coffee, biscuits and shower gels, shampoo, conditioner .......
We had dinner in the bar where my dog was so welcomed. The food was superb and the service excellent. Next morning, we were allowed to leave the dog upstairs while we had a very nice breakfast in the restaurant. There was absolutely nothing to fault in this stay and we would certainly stay there again if back in the area.

Nice village pub/hotel

Denise W on 29/10/2017 19:10

Lovely hotel in a quiet village we stayed in room 6,large size room with a lovely bed and nice furniture and fittings loved the sparkly wallpaper.Only complaint needs more pillows or better quality ones.Bathroom was massive shame there wasn’t a bath as well as a shower as it is big enough for both, shower was great.
The pub is very nice friendly staff and locals,we ate in the restaurant food was lovely but the place itself was lacking atmosphere then again it was very quiet only a few guests.
Enjoyed our stay overall and would return again.
