Hard to fault this pub. It offers a varied menu with very nice food and ranges from classics like Fish pie yum! Terrine also delicious. Home made seasonal and fresh. Standard of wines very good and great value. Service was good and atmosphere warm and cosy. Really nice lunch.
All good - particularly when they were busy.

We arrived at the Winning Post 6pm on a Monday night - normally a quiet time but not when there's racing at Windsor. However Tina and her team coped magnificent;y with 100+ covers, both in the dining room and outside on the terrace (it was a warm October evening). Enough choice (just) at dinner, with only one special available. But promptly and cheerfully served. Breakfast excellent with fresh granola, fruit salad. Full English available if wanted. Communal newspapers on hand. Room very comfortable with good long bath, good lighting and ventilation and blackout curtains. No road or aircraft noise. Altogether a very comfortable stay.
Fantastic venue for a family birthday

I should start by saying a very big thank you to Tina and the team wonderful service from start to finish.
We picked this hotel/restaurant as I had arranged a surprise 25th birthday party for my wife 25 years ago and "found it" again when going to Heathrow in August.
The party involve us traveling from Harrogate and other family members traveling from London and the West Country.
We all arrived between 3:00pm and 4:00pm casual, drinks in the bar before adjourning to our rooms for the festivities.
The service for a table of 18 was good, especially considering there was another large party in the private room.
Our only complaint was 2 of the steaks were delivered medium rare rather than well done but this was quickly rectified.
Our bedroom was fine but several of our party struggled with hot bedrooms over night.
Breakfast was an excellent and a very relaxed affair - even though service finished at 10:00am, there was no pressure to checkout or leave the table.
Once again thank you for creating a wonderful venue and making my wife's birthday truly memorable.
Pretty room....but 'eh' place

I'll couch this review by first saying I was at the end of a 10 day trip bouncing from inn to inn, and was SO ready to be home in my own bed, and not having to pack/unpack daily. So I was a bit sour during my stay.
Pro:
1.) The double room we had was charmingly decorated.
2.) Bed soft and pillows comfortable.
3.) Hot water in shower.
4.) Good breakfast (included full English, plus others, such as eggs on toast and French toast with bacon).
Con:
1.) No AC, nor fan. It was cool when we visited, and we could open our window, but if it was a warm day, it would have been v. uncomfortable at night to sleep. Maybe provide fans to guests if they need?
2.) Walls between rooms were quite thin, and I could hear the folks next door talk, laugh, and eat porridge.
3.) At 7:15pm on Sunday, we went to the adjoining pub for a drink & some dinner & was told the kitchen was closed! (Even though the website advertised that they had just extended the kitchen service hours until 7:30pm on Sundays.) (And just as we walked in (literally, JUST as we walked in), a table of 6 persons were served their food.)
4.) The room we stayed in was fairly small. Not something I'd want to rent for more than 1 or 2 days.
I would not stay here again and would not recommend anyone to stay here.
