Clean, comfortable and as described

This is the first time we'd stayed 'above a pub' and whilst we booked with some trepidation we were aware of the good reviews on Trip Advisor and that the pub had a good reputation.
We booked direct to ensure we don't cheat the hotel/accommodation out of commission which booking websites can charge them and found the price point to be good and within our budget.
Arriving at the accommodation later than planned we found parking easy enough and walked into the main bar without our bags to check in. We were greeted by a warm and friendly chap who took our details, found our key and showed us to the stairs to the rooms and pointed out the rear access for those staying so we could bring in bags etc without going through the restaurant.
The room was nice, well appointed, had everything we needed and the bathroom and in particular the shower was very nice and welcome at the end of a day of travel.
With a captive audience we chose to eat at the pub - why wouldn't you! - and I've done a separate review for that experience.
The stay was enjoyable with a comfortable bed and not too much noise. Living in the middle of nowhere we are quite sensitive to noise and light and whilst these were both more than we're used to, our threshold is pretty low so I'd imagine for most travellers it's completely acceptable and to us it was fine for one night.
The lady serving the breakfast was friendly and really happy and took our order promptly before delivering out a lovely eggs Benedict (really beautifully cooked and presented). My wife who doesn't eat cooked breakfasts ordered a croissant and wished she'd ordered about 2 or 3 as it was quite small - so she made up for it with toast and cereal. Coffee a plenty and although juice was a bit low the lady running the show topped things up regularly. A nice experience and a really good breakfast from my point of view.
Check out was easy with quick payment and departure and a friendly goodbye.
Lovely view from outside seating

Sometimes go to this restaurant on a Sunday night. Always have good food and service to match, so we know we won't be disappointed.
We usually sit inside, but last time sat on the outside seating which has a lovely view of the fields behind...enhanced our experience as it was a lovely evening with sun setting.

We enjoyed our one night stay at The Throckmorton because:
*our room was clean, well-decorated and comfortable
*all the staff we met were friendly and helpful
*our breakfasts and evening meals were good quality , well cooked and tasty
We felt that we got value for money.
A perfect ending to a perfect day.

After a perfect day at Coughton Court we wanted it to end the same with a perfect meal. Well, The Throckton Inn made sure of that! Lovely welcome in, the pub had a really good atmosphere on arrival. The place was spotless and the staff very attentive. Our meals was perfect and we were able to make slight changes too which was a bonus. Meals and drinks came out on time and the wait between meals were perfectly timed. We sat outside as the weather was good. The setting was amazing, such ashame there isn't a throckton closer to where we live. will definitely be coming again when we visit Coughton Court.
Disappointed with how a complaint has been handled

We are regular customers but we are most disappointed that the email we sent making a complaint following a recent visit has not been acknowledged. We had a two course set lunch and had 3 loyalty cards, one with 6 stamps and two others with two stamps each. When the bill came , we showed the young waitress the three loyalty cards and straight away she said that we could not use them that day and would have to wait until next time. We explained that this was not correct as we had one card with 6 stamps and two cards with two stamps built up over several visits, so had the 8 stamps required to receive £10 off the meal. She insisted we could not use them so we asked to see the Manager. The lady Manager came and immediately said that the waitress was right and that we could not use them until next time. We showed her the cards and again said that was not right as we had accrued these stamps on several occasions. She told us not to shout (although our voices were certainly no louder than hers). Finally, with much reluctance she agreed that we could use the two cards with the total of 8 stamps on. She then tried to say that the waitress had not realised that we had three loyalty cards. She did realise because we showed them to her. We were really surprised at the Manager's attitude bearing in mind she knew from the cards, that we were regular customers. On our way we saw the young waitress and said to her that it wasn't her fault, but that of the Manager who had instructed her incorrectly. We thought it was a very bad example for the Manager to set for young staff under her.
We are disgusted that we have not had the courtesy of a reply.
It is very poor customer service to ignore a complaint from loyal customers.
