This is an oasi in Basilicata, nothing compares to the taste and style of this authentic Masseria, great location, amazing swimming pool and fantastic restaurant. Rooms are so cool and the owner, Mariana, a canadian-italian elegant lady is always attemptive to guests needs. Highly reccomend it.

This hotel has been beautifully restored with huge attention to detail. The photographs are truly representative. The food is superb and well priced. For us it was a peaceful haven on a long road trip.

Reminds me a lot of many of the places we use in Portugal, it has a true finca style to it.
You can escape here and be isolated from the world if you so wish, it is in the middle of nowhere.
Great views. Good food. Nice rooms. Good service.

This hotel/masseria is located in the middle of nowhere (in relative terms)....4-5 km from Pisticci....which is 30-40 minutes south and east of Matera or 20 minutes from the seaside. That is not a negative if you are looking for the peace and quiet of the countryside with easy access to the coast as well as Matera, and if you want to be in a very comfortable, very attractive and very well run historic property.
The property sits at the edge of a ravine (canyon?) with expansive views over the surrounding countryside....very attractive. It is located about 1 km off the main road (that has very little traffic) so it is extremely quiet, especially at night. The signage from the main east-west highway (or from the coastal highway) is outstanding....every turn has a sign guiding you to the property.....this was much appreciated as our Italian GPS was not that reliable. The signage is, in itself, a sign of the care and thought the owners have put into this property.....everything works, everything is well laid out and everything is well maintained.
The rooms are large and well appointed. The wifi is very good and very fast. The air-conditioning/heating systems work well. The restaurant is very good and relaxed with a very good breakfast selection. The beds are comfortable. The pool is large with great views over the countryside and it has a large deck area with numerous lounge chairs. Throughout the property the plantings, objects and details are all first-rate and, of course, very well maintained.
The property is enclosed within walls with all the rooms located either in the main, central building (these are on the upper floor and have large balconies and tremendous views) or opening into the large courtyard.....so, a great place for children and for those concerned about safety. There are several areas areas set up for small groups or for individuals to have privacy (for example, a fire pit area 50 meters from the pool with great views). Also, the ground floor in the main, central building has a bar and a separate reading/hangout area with comfortable chairs and a variety of reading materials.
Having stayed in a number of Masseria in Puglia and Basilicata, I would rate this as the best of the lot.....it is an interesting, historic property that the owners have carefully restored and upgraded and, most importantly, it is an extremely well run property.

This place is fabulous! The setting, the food, the accommodations were all superb. Only issue is its distance from anywhere else you might be going. It is 30' from Matera, an obvious destination in this area and only 1 1/2 hours from Bari and most worthwhile spots in Puglia.
While the immediate environment of the Masseria is exceptional, most of the surround acreage is not well developed or particularly attractive.
Meals were exceptional and not expensive.
No reason to return again to this area of Italy, but you will be missing out if you don't try it once
