Perfect Place to Stay in Cary

Was last here in 2014 and have now returned. Towne Suites hotel by Marriott is exactly what I'm looking for and is very convenient to what I needed to do in Cary, NC. There are 2 building and all are suites, with mini kitchens and all cooking pots/pans, plates, glasses, etc., for eating in. Breakfast is included in each nightly stay but for 4 story buildings and quite a few rooms, the breakfast area is small with on 4 tables. Check-in is quick, housekeeping does a good job with daily refreshment of rooms. Convenient to local area restaurants and centrally located close to I-40...

Well, I have exaggerated, but, you literally can not walk out of the hotel. You have to have a car. Everything is too far away for walking, bicycle might be a possibility, but the speeds on these roads are insane and the hotel has nothing to help you there. It is fairly isolated, with two main buildings and a large parking lot. The rooms are very spacious, by European standards, the bed was comfortable and big. There was a fully furbished kitchen (refrigerator, oven, stoves). The bathroom was with a bathtub (particularly slippery). The soaps and shampoos were replenished daily. The room had an awkward smell which bothered me every time I entered the room, but after 10 minutes I would become desensitised.
Breakfast was included in the price and was very much the same every day (turkey or pork sausage, fried eggs with crushed peppercorn, make yourself waffle, two types of cheese, hard boiled eggs, a selection of breads/bagels/muffins, bananas and apples, two types of juice and a selection of cereals). It was served in a very small room with 3-4 tables for two. It was ok but nothing more than that. I can only imagine what would be the options if it was not available in the hotel...
There was a fitness room (did not try) and an outside pool, which opened at 9 and closed at dusk. It is very small and not for swimming, but for cooling down.
The whole place is very quiet, despite it's closeness to a pair of busy streets. However, if it were not for the business reason for the visit to that part of Raleigh, I would have never selected it.

I quickly learned not to go from a Marriott Vacation Resort hotel to a Towneplace Suite Marriott. I had stayed a week in Branson at the Willow Ridge Lodge that was fantastic, my in laws get several units here every other year for our family reunion. I then flew from Branson to my job site (I am a commercial interior designer) that was a mile away from Towneplace Suites, for a 2 week stay. Thinking this would be the perfect location and how could you go wrong with a Marriott bed? Boy oh boy did I think wrong. The bed was so hard, I slept the 2 weeks on the hide a bed as it was more comfortable. How this place is considered a Marriot is beyond me!
I advised the front desk of how uncomfortable I was and requested a mattress topper after the first night. I did not hear anything for 2 more nights then the next morning I got a call from the operations manager Michael Richardson who advised me all of the beds were the same and felt the need to let me know that was his best room and the regulars request it. If this is your best #110 the Marriott brand has fallen to a new low. The bed was not only un sleep-able, the closet doors were completely taken off the track and shoved in the corner of the entry way, there was 1 pot to cook with in the kitchen and 1 serving spoon, good luck if you wanted to fry a steak. Michael Richardson then went on to advise me he would see what he could do to locate a mattress topper and if I emailed him that he would ensure that my reward account would be credited with 1000 points. I received 1 email response back saying thank you.
On my 3 rd night I received a letter under my door from Michael stating he was unable to locate a suitable mattress topper in the area. What does this mean? Was the Walmart, Target , TJ Max and Ross down the street sold out? I never heard from Michael again and certainly never got a great nights sleep.
After 5 or 6 nights of literally 4 to 5 hours of horrible sleep, I was discussing my dismay with the front desk clerk Lantra who by the way is amazing and Marriott is lucky to have her. She advised me not only was my rewards account not updated with the 1000 points , but not even applied to my current trip, she then helped me get my reward account straight so at least my trip would applied to it. She gave me Dale Wilson's card - the general manager to contact. I never did as I had completely given up at this point that this low brow Marriott gave a hoot about their guests and was seriously thought about drinking Nyquil to try to get some sleep. I'm not sure what Lantra did, but low and behold the next day I received another email from Michael stating he was now giving my account 5000 points . Just 5000, not the 1000 + 5000. Of course even if he had that still would not make 1 free night. I'm not sure at this point if 1 free night would make up for 12 horrible sleepless nights anyway.
In short do not stay at this hotel if you normally sleep on a memory foam mattress, I would not even recommend the Residence Inn up the street, it looks about as dated as this hotel from the photos and the beds look exactly the same.
Nice Hidden location

I stayed two nights for a business meeting in SAS Cary. The hotel staff were very friendly and welcoming. The lady managing the breakfast area was always available to help while the front desk always engaged positively with guests. The room was very clean although slightly dated. Location is both a positive and negative (positive for being quiet), negative because of its standalone nature. The pricing was more than reasonable and the breakfast offerings were more than enough. I would recommend for a business, working or family visit with the understanding that you need to organize your own transportation.
Great experience

I only stayed one night. I was in town for an interview but everyone was extremely helpful and went out their way to make sure I was comfortable and taken care of.
A HUGE room for such a low price. Breakfast was in a little room and I only ran in to get juice but it looked ok
Very clean
Very quiet
A special thank you to Sylvia who helped me print out AND send my resume in the nick of time. She took the time to help me and that was very much appreciated. And needed.
I would stay again and definitely recommend!
