Get away

We had a wonderful time and the room were clean and comfy. We arrived early and the gentleman on the front desk was rude and didn't want to be bothered. Had to wait until 4 to get in our rooms even though they were ready a couple hours before that. Never did call our friend to tell her her room was ready.
Great time

Great place clean comfortable and all necessary amenities. Very c lose to the beach and the bay from the resort Pier. Staff were lovely and helpful and the beach towels available every day was really handy. The pool area was really comfortable. Take the bus to Annna Maria end of the island for food and drink it's not so expensive as Bridge street. The red barn flea market was worth a look
Won't be back...

The Tradewinds was a real disappointment for my husband and me. We stayed in North cottage #7, having paid for the upgraded room to have a king sized bed. To our surprise, what we got was two individual twin sized beds pushed together. They were completely separate beds, even the metal frames were two frames tied together by plastic garbage bags. The beds had a flimsy, cheap foam king sized mattress topper over the two beds and king sized bedding (to give the impression it was a king bed, no doubt). The beds themselves were old and/or poor quality, very uncomfortable and consequently we got little sleep. Being tired on vacation is the pits. The first morning I notified the front desk that the bed was really uncomfortable (this was before we realized they were two twins). The lady (Katie?) was nice but ultimately not helpful. She offered to have housekeeping add yet another foam topper or move is to a south cottage with a queen bed. We opted to stay in #7 and split up the beds to see if that helped.
The room itself had enough space and the basic necessities but was dirty when we arrived. There were foreign hairs stuck on the bathroom walls and one in the 'clean' towel hanging in the rack. The cottage was generally old and run down. I advised the front desk about the hairs and that it needed to be cleaned. Housekeeping came that afternoon and added another cheap foam topper and made the bed. The room still felt dirty. For my fellow allergy sufferers, this is that place you walk into and immediately think, "Oh no..."
To their credit, someone removed the daily resort fee ($10/day) and the pet fee. So there's that. However, we would have much preferred a clean room and a comfortable bed (in the size we reserved and paid for).
When we checked out, I told the front desk about the twin beds and was advised she would "let management know." Hopefully that happens because the room needs a new bed - and it should actually be a king sized bed as advertised. As far as I'm concerned, advertising a room as having a king bed when it is actually two twins is deceptive. I'm 5'3" and my feet touched the end of the bed. This leads me to believe they were standard twins, not even XL ones. At any rate, it's wrong.
The location of the Tradewinds is great-directly across from the beach. They also allow pets, always nice. Other than that, and the polite, well-intentioned 'Katie' at the front desk, we had a pretty poor (and sleep-deprived) vacation. We will not be back.
Nice little place

Stayed 1 night. Room was cool and clean and offered all the basics: microwave, oven, fridge, tv. We had an easy check in and check out. It's just a short walk to the beach and great central location along gulf drive. Would stay again.
