What People are saying

Never again

Rae P on 03/11/2017 00:47

Nice building and grounds. But it was a very cold room and although we asked to turn heating on we were told no.No restaurant and a very poor continental breakfast. Need to drive to get to anywhere .Nearest pub a couple of miles away. I wouldn't recommend anyone to waste their time on this hotel

Excellent 2 week stay

Lovely house, peaceful location and a warm welcome from our host.
Nice large room with bathroom and a roaring fire in the bar to greet us at the end of the day.
Thank you, Marco
Look forward to returning.

Exceptional

Lovely place. Marco who runs the place is very nice, helpful and entertaining.
Anything you need just ask him. Delicious continental breakfast included.
If you want to eat check if the restaurant is open as not open every day.
Very calm and quiet place with breathtaking view. Also Camel Trails within 5 min walk.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Erm, not quite sure what to say

The hotel is lovely, if unusual - which is part of its charm. Marco, the owner is rather a Marmite character - he was initially pleasant, if rather brusque, but when we mentioned that the wi-fi did not work in our room, he told us that our laptops were at fault (I had an HP with microsoft and my husband had an Apple Mac). The fact that he was watching football sitting about 10 ft away from the router obviously didn't register, nor did the fact that other people complained that they couldn't get on the internet either. He did fix the problem but it happened again.

I was also a little miffed, when having driven for nearly 5 hours, we were hoping for a pizza or something from what was advertised as their trattoria, but we were told that they did not serve meals during weekdays. So we had to drive to a pub to have a meal. Fair enough, but the very next evening (which was also a weekday), we saw two (American) guests being served with home-made pizza. That doesn't look too good, and didn't endear the place to us..

The hotel itself was interesting and we had a lovely room, with a comfortable bed, lovely ensuite bathroom and beautifully fresh sheets. But Marco needs to stop deflecting the blame for anything and everything onto something other than himself. We laughed at the time, but it was a bit like being at Fawlty Towers. Which is a shame, because the house itself had loads of potential and is a really nice place.

The breakfast was not particularly inspiring, although the waitresses were friendly and nice to speak to.

We have re-visited the area since, but I'm afraid we won't be going back.

A fairy tale

Last August we spent two weeks in UK, mainly in the South : Hampshire, Devon and Cornwall. We were an happy company of fourteen, seven kids and seven grown ups. And we had booked two nights at Tredethy House, near Bodmin, in Cornwall. You reach the place through country roads, tunnelled in the green : plain sail with a good GPS navigation device. To land, suddendly, to a remarkable Manor House, with acres of green around it, grand hall, grand stairs, very large rooms with any comfort you could ask for. And Marco, Italian, as we are, mastering the big company in the different rooms for a luxury stay; forthcoming and very helpful.
We keep a fond memory of our two days there .
Rating doesen't somewhat tell it all : it was a fairy tale. Try yourself.
