10 days of sun

Turquoise resort is a complex of about 300 apartments and villas, 6 pools plus a main pool with bar, restaurant, coffee bar and small market. There is also massage and turkish baths.
We stayed in a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom garden apartment, fully equipped for self catering if needed but there is plenty to do, eat and see nearby so why would you.
Clean, fresh, friendly and also child friendly, the turkish like the English and all speak very good english to so no language barriers.
Weather is currently hot at 36 degrees and no clouds, there is a good breeze so it is easily enjoyed.
We are at a nearby beach at tge moment called My Beach which offers private cabanas and a lovely sea view. Food is good and reasonable price. Beer and wine also good.
Lovely place to be and we will be coming back again next year.

Peaceful (but not too peaceful) resort

We stayed in this lovely apartment (Garnet 55) for two weeks in late August 2015 (two adults and our 8-year-old daughter).

Turquoise is a quiet resort, but still busy enough that it doesn't feel empty. There are two pools within very easy reach of our apartment, where we spent most of hour time (having met another family staying near the larger of those pools), and it's not too far to walk to the main pool and restaurant/bar. There are always plenty of sun loungers with shade.

The views from the back of our apartment are great, looking down towards Lake Tuzla. The area is rather hilly, but the free shuttle bus goes everywhere, going past once an hour or so - there is a timetable posted at the bus stop. You can walk everywhere, though, if you prefer.

Turquoise Restaurant, at the main pool, serves a very touristy menu during the day but a nice fine dining menu in the evening. The shuttle bus will also take you to the restaurant at Royal Heights - incredible views, but a disappointing menu - and to Flamingo, which has a better menu and a view over the golf course. There is a gate between Turquoise and Flamingo, so you can walk alongside the pitch & putt course rather than getting the bus or walking all the way to the top of the hill.

The shop at Turquoise is reasonably well stocked. There isn't as much as at Migros supermarket, at the top of the hill, but it's got the essentials. Most importantly, they will deliver 19-litre bottles of water to the apartment - at only 6TL per bottle, this is fabulous value.

We only visited two beaches during our stay. "My Beach" is everything that people say it is, and more. The cabanas are very nice, and the food is good - but take insect repellent if you plan to stay to the evening. We also went to the beach run by "Sunset" restaurant - I think it's called Golluk beach. This is a nice sandy beach, which also has steps for you to climb straight into the sea for a swim. It's popular with the locals, but by no means crowded. We didn't visit Royal Heights beach, but heard reports that it was quite dirty and unpleasant.

The local restaurants and beaches will all provide transport for you, free of charge. Most will pick you up directly from the apartment.

Almost everywhere takes credit cards as payment, the only exception being the tourist office in the parade of shops outside Turquoise (near the pizza takeaway). If you do need cash, there is an ATM on the hill up towards Migros.

The dolmus to Bodrum gets busy. Check the departure times on the dolmus stop rather than at the office or at security - the times had changed. We went to Bodrum in the late afternoon, when it had cooled down enough - Bodrum castle is very interesting, and is open until 18:30 (at the time of writing).

The weather was unusually hot when we visited, and it would have been nice to have ceiling fans in addition to the A/C (which is very efficient). Your A/C is on a card meter, but we didn't use up all our allocated credit, despite the heat. You can always buy extra credit if you need to.

Most places have free wi-fi - you just need to ask.

All properties at Turquoise seem to be either ground floor or first floor apartments. We had a ground floor apartment, meaning we had a private garden and a shaded verandah. We also had a fabulous view, as we were at the edge of the resort overlooking Flamingo.

tl;dr A great apartment in a good location with friendly locals and free transport to all the local beaches and restaurants.

lovely resort

Rented a privately owned apartment here and had a fantastic two weeks. The complex was immaculately maintained with beautiful pools and the DJ hilarious. We had a great time at the Turkish night and were gutted that we were leaving before the circus night. We hired a car which we prefer to do wherever we go and were glad as on site restaurant nice but otherwise not a great choice of restaurans within walking distance. We found some lovely ones 10-15 mins away at Guvercilik and My Beach was unbelievably idyllic with the nicest people we have ever met. We spent the day there in our own cabana, waited on all day with 5 soft drinks each, had lunch in the restaurant and they arranged a taxi both ways - the bill was a grand total of £40 for four of us. This is a great peaceful play to stay with the hustle and bustle of Bodrum only 30-40 mins away so you have the best of both worlds.

Disappointing!

First and last time we will stay here! Not enough towels for five people to share, no mattresses for the sun beds, no base for the parasol, long grass which needed cutting at our villa, fridge thermostat couldn't be turned down any lower and froze our food! Tacky and cheesy pool side man on microphone which made us cringe! 5* most definitely not! Definitely need a car to stay here, not enough choice of restaurants to eat in as a lot have closed down recently and need to Tavel by car to others nearby as down hillside which would be impossible to walk to if you had any elderly or infirm amongst your party! The local 'My Beach' which was recommended was dirty and littered with rubbish including glass and toilet brushes! We love Turkey and come back every year but would never revisit here!
