This place was very clean with comfortable beds. It also had a nice breakfast. The rose garden was very pretty. It was helpful to have an elevator. There were several buildings that were painted different colors. The surroundings were very quaint.

We booked two quad rooms as we are family of five. The rooms were adjoining, clean and very comfortable. The bathrooms were a little bit cramped, but the showers had plenty of hot water and were clean. There was a car park right in front of our building, which was very convenient. Check-in and out was very efficient and the staff we met were very friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel is fantastic - right in the old town, very close to the beautiful grounds of the castle and the castle itself and a short walk to the main town/shops.
The hotel itself was spread across 3-4 buildings, including the meals area. Our room rate also had half board attached. Breakfast was adequate, with plenty of choice, including coffee and tea. Dinner, however, was pretty ordinary. There was only one choice of main and it was a sloppy, rather tasteless curry served with pasta. Considering we had spent a fair amount of money to stay at the hotel, we expected better. It was edible, but not as good as we thought it should be.
That said, the positives of this hotel outweigh the negatives. Therefore, I would recommend staying here when in Kalmar.

The hotel is located close to the city park an about 10 min walk from the city center. There are several different buildings that are all part of the hotel with (what it looks like) different standard. We stayed in the main building, facing the park on the ground floor. The room was nicely decorated with a small bathroom. The shower was surprisingly big but the pipes were placed in a way that you easily burned yourself when adjusting the placement of the showerhead. Free shampoo & soap was provided. The wardrobe was ok, but filled with fixed hangers so it was difficult to hang any clothes.
Our room was located on the ground floor of the main building, close to the reception and for some reason they kept the ironing board just outside our room. There was some noise from the reception and the train but nothing that kept us awake. The hotel grounds were lovely with rabbits running around.
The breakfast was fine but nothing out of the ordinary for a Swedish hotel breakfast. A small evening meal (meatballs w potatoes, chilli w rice & soup) was included in the price but not served until 18.30 so we were either out and about or had already eaten. However, it looked good and I heard others saying it was good.

Lovely oldstyle hotel with original warm atmosfär and great service!
Nice Breakfast and lovely garden area to hang around! You have Kalmar Castle and Summer Theatre at Krusenstjernska garden next door.

Very nice old hotel, with a lot of history.
Just next to water - walking distance from town centre.
Very nice staff - good breakfast and light dinner.
Can only recommend if you would like to spend some days in Kalmar.
