A real taste of Canadian Lodge life

Fantastic lodge in the resort of Kicking Horse, away from it all but close to amenities. There's a pub within walking distance and a Gondola to the top of the mountain on the door step.
Ken and Laurie know all about hospitality and take it to another level, making sure you have everything you need and want to make your stay perfect, The hot tub was a lovely treat after walking and then to just relax in the beautiful lounge, play games, read books and ingest this beautiful Canadian lodge life.
The bed rooms were beautifully appointed and the bed was heavenly, everything you needed was available and more.
Highly recommended, cant wait to go back!
If you get the chance to stay. IT'S A MUST!

Two week holiday, a week travelling across the Rockies and a weeks Cruise.
VAGABOND LODGE was possibly the highlight of my two weeks. This is a little bit of heaven on earth.
The Owners, Ken and Laurie are most welcoming people, without being to much in your face. They know how to judge people and give you just the right amount of attention. You feel like your at home, but at the same time feel like you are a very special guest.
The Lodge is clean, comfy, relaxing, warm and just wonderful to be in. This is a real escape from everyday life. We had two days her and it wasn't enough.
If I lived closer I would stay here several times a year.
Ken and Laurie know what hospitality is all about and they deliver it.

This magnificent lodge is well worth the price. Excellent customer service, friendly faces to welcome you and assist you during your stay, lovely and very spacious room, and a superb breakfast array. We went in late summer and it was a great home base for all the hiking we did. We would definitely go back.
Vagabond Lodge Stay

We stayed at the Vagabond Lodge for almost 3 weeks from July into August. It was superb! The room we stayed in was very spacious, comfortable and well appointed and included a huge window seat which accommodated both of us in a comfortable reading position while overlooking the majestic Rocky Mountains. The bathroom was large and well equipped with ample shelves, hooks, hairdryer and an excellent shower.
The Lodge itself is beautiful, immaculate and built by the hosts/owners over the course of a year. It fits flawlessly into the mountainside. The common areas are very large and cozy with multiple seating arranged to encourage both privacy and conversation with other guests. There is also a lower level with a full pool table, TV, DVDs and games. WiFi reception was strong and available everywhere. Additionally, there was a sauna and outdoor hot tub.
Breakfast is served in a large open area with multiple seating arrangements. It is varied, delicious and bountiful with many buffet choices. This includes homemade bread, yogurt and fruit scones, fresh eggs, excellent coffee, fruit pancakes, granola, fresh fruit salads and many other treats. There are also sweets in the evening and coffee, espresso and tea available.
Lori and Ken as hosts have created a wonderful “home away from home” environment. They have attended to every detail for a wonderful vacation experience. They are extremely knowledgeable about activities in the greater area and have a deep understanding of Canadian life which they are happy to share. It was our great pleasure to have had the opportunity to spend time with these kind and considerate people.
The Vagabond Lodge, a few miles outside of the town of Golden, is very centrally located within an hour or so of many National parks. It is within the Kicking Horse mountain resort. This area has many activities including skiing in the winter, mountain biking in other seasons, a gondola lift to the top of the mountain and a chairlift to the Grizzly Bear Refuge occupied by Boo, a 400 kg bear. Also, there are several restaurants, lounges and cafes.
The town of Golden itself is interesting and full of small surprises such as a beautifully constructed covered bridge and many good restaurants and walking paths near the Kicking Horse River.

Husband found and booked this and what a corker of a place. When driving here you're thinking it can't be up here as you just keep going up and up. But once you've got here you can see the benefits of the drive. You are lodge is high on a mountain with the most amazing views, and when you step inside it just gets better.
This boutique hotel is just perfect, the staff and owners are welcoming and make you feel at home. We was shown to our room which was lovely, good quality furniture and a balcony with stunning views. Lovely bathroom with toiletries provided and very soft dressing gowns. The bed is lovely with thick topper and luxury duvet. Down stairs in the communal area is lovely as you have lots of sofas and chairs with blankets if you want to snuggle near the log fire. You have a TV room with pool table down stairs as well, Ken and Lori are very accommodating and have fab local knowledge. If your not sure what to do go talk to them and they can help plan your day. They advised us of a back route to Banff 1A and it's well worth the drive as it have stunning views. I'm very said to be leaving but I can safely say we will be back as this is by far the most beautiful place I have ever stayed in.
Thanks Ken and Lori for a fantastic few days.
