Shrimp Alfredo - Yummy!

sday18 on 29/08/2016 23:14

We have gone to Nero's for years. My nephews like to go there when they visit. Jacksonville. The last time that my husband and I ate there, I had the Shrimp and Tortellini Alfredo. It was so yummy! I have been thinking about it ever since!

Pizza Night

Every Thursday at Nero's Italian restaurant is Bogo night on pizza. Tonight was the night to have pizza. We ordered a Deluxe pizza and a vegetarian pizza they were considered large and by standards of other restaurants it would have been an extra large. It was full of cheese and tomatoes and everything else we ordered on them and it was delicious. The service was fast prompt and courteous. We enjoyed our pizza with a pitcher cold beer. Which hit the spot. Nero's has been around for about 40 years here in the Arlington area of Jacksonville it has. It has always been a great family restaurant. Wednesday nights they have all-you-can-eat spaghetti. Their sauce is also very good and we go there for spaghetti here for an evening out for this. They are which you can consider a family-owned-and-operated restaurant not a chain. I hope Nero's will be around for years to come.

Traditional Family Italian

Best 2-4-1 Pizza twice a week. Great chicken dishes. Eggplant parma is tasty and certainly less messy than homemade.

Great Experience

We went here on a non AYCE 5.00 Spaghetti night and we were blown away by the food quality, value, and service we recived. I had the Shrimp Carbonara and it was great. This place is kinda dated...something out of a Mob movie but other than that it was superb.

Won't be back anytime soon

While it's true that I actually live in Tampa, making it difficult for me to be back to Nero's anytime soon, even if/when I *am* back in Jacksonville, I certainly won't be looking to dine there again.

It was a Wednesday night that we ate there - myself, my fiancee, and my aunt & uncle. That is 'All You Can Eat Spaghetti/$5.99' night. From the category of 'you get what you pay for,' the entree left a lot to be desired. I'm Italian and I've eaten a lot of authentic Italian food, and this was definitely nothing special. I asked for marinara sauce and it was hard to distinguish from the meat sauce. The "catch" to $5.99 all you can eat spaghetti, by the way, is they charge $2.75 for an order of two meatballs.

Mostly driving this review, however, was the service. When the server brought out the garlic bread we asked for plates and she said, "We don't have any." When we asked if she was serious, she looked at my aunt and said, "Yeah. There's a lot of people in here, baby." We estimated that the restaurant was maybe around 45% "full"? Imagine if they would've *really* been busy! So, the server brought us paper napkins to eat our garlic bread on.

I know this place has been around forever and I wonder how. Their decor is still stuck in the 1970s and you can't even try to say that it gives it character.

Overall, a disappointing visit.
