Honeymoon Paradise

Analipsi is a beautiful resort away from the hustle and bustle. Lovely bars and restaurants, beautiful sandy beach. Stayed at the Venus Mare Apartments just a short stroll from the beach. If you want more nightlife then the local bus stop was only a 5 minute walk away and it will take you to Hersonisos. This was our second time in this resort and certainly won't be our last.
Great value apartments

Stayed here for 10 nights in a one bedroom apartment in October 2017. The apartments are in a great location, approx. 5 minutes walk from the sea front, and 10 minutes (max) to the village. There is a supermarket, souvenir shop and a bar (ClubCafe) just around the corner.
The apartment had a double bed and plenty of wardrobe and drawer space. The air con was free which is very good given the cost of the aprtments. Some places charge 7 euro per night!! There is an in room safe which is very reasonable at 11 euros per week.
Our balcony overlooked the side road with views of the sea. There was very little traffic on the road outside the apartments as it's an access road so only really residential traffic.
The room was only cleaned every other day, which the website makes clear, but most other Greek properties we've stayed in does provide daily cleaning. This wasn't a problem as the rooms were clean and towels and linen were changed 3 times during our stay.
Kitchen equipment was basic: fridge, two rings, kettle, toaster, pans, crockery and cutlery; but was adequate as long as you don't want to make fancy meals yourself.
There were only a few guests staying in October and there were more than enough sunbeds, but don't know what it would be like if the apartments were full.
Bar food is available during the day and was very resaonably priced. We didn't have breakfast, prefering to have our own on the balcony. The drinks at the pool bar were also very good prices, cocktails 4 euros - thanks Nik they were lovely. The staff are very friendly and helpful and around until late at night.
We attended the Tuesday night barby which is a great night and excellent value for 9 euros each. We had lovely food, entertainment and dancing, and free shots. We seemed to drink lots of red wine and beers and our total bill for the night was 44 euros:)
Analipsi itself is a lovely small village for a wander around. There are about 10 restaurants and a few bars. Roukounas at the top of the village is a lovely little traditional cafe/bar specialising in fish. We had drinks there most nights and were served with dakos and warm prawns to accompany them. Everyone we spoke to in the village was extremely welcoming and friendly.
Places were starting to close down in October but there were still enough restauarants and bars open for tourists and locals. There are several all inclusive large hotels in Analipsi and several people we spoke to said that 'all inclusive' is having an effect on local businesses, It would be such a shame if businesses closed and affected the ambience of the village because of this.
The weather was pretty good while we were there, and we walked along the promenade, then the beach to Gouves, about an hours walk. There was always a breeze on the seafront and the sea wasn't really calm, but not sure if that only occurs later in the year.
Had wonderful time at apartments and in village. Would be difficult to beat these apartments for value given location and what they provide.
Excellent Value

We spend 10 days here in September 2017. We had previously stayed in Analipsi and really liked the area but felt that we missed out being Full Board in one of the big resorts.
This time we opted for Apartments and were very glad we did. The apartments are clean, well located and have everything you need. The pool area is decent sized, there were plenty of sun loungers to go around, not once did we have any issues getting these, you could turn up at lunchtime and still get a good spot.
Food is available, It's just the basics but its decent quality and cheap. Drinks are also cheap within the complex. The staff are very friendly and Helpful. Maria and Rena in the day, and Nik during the evenings are happy to assist with anything. WiFi is available poolside and in the eating area but not in the rooms. We had breakfast included. This is pretty basic, a continental selection with pancakes and scrambled eggs
On the Tuesday night they have a BBQ evening. This costs 9 Euro's per person and is well worth it. After the food (which was Excellent) there is dancing and music, its a very enjoyable evening.
Location wise its good. There is a Supermarket within 2 minutes walk as well as the ClubCafe which shows all the sport. Plenty of restaurants within a few minutes walk, Tritonas on the corner being a particular favourite of ours. 15 minutes walk in to the main square of Analipsi where there are more shops and eateries, there is plenty to choose from.
To summarise, this is the way to do Crete. Analipsi is a great little town but you miss out on this in the big resorts. By going Self Catered and using the local eateries, it not only works out a hell of a lot cheaper, but also adds to the whole experience making it all the more enjoyable. We would definitely use Venus Mare again.
Excelent

Good services. Nice pool exceptional staff willing to do the best for their guests. The apartments are clean. Cleaning service every day and they change lining twice a week. They offer also food and they prepare a nice barbecue party on tuesday. Prices are fair if not cheap for what they offer.
RECOMENDED STRONGLY
Beautiful apartments close to the beach

We spent here 4 nights during our stay on Crete and it was very nice place. We booked studio, so we could cook there, there was already some clean cookware, so we could prepare meals immediately after coming. Unfortunately we didn't attend grill party, that takes place every Tuesday (but we heard it is worth visiting), because we didn't know about it in advance :( We also paid for breakfast, which was nice, the variety of the food was basic (tea, coffee, juice, pancakes, omelette, vegetables, cakes, ham, cheese), but it was enough for couple of days. We liked very much the pool, because the water wasn't too chlorinated, what was pleasant, we could have fun without our eyes burning:) Overall the place was very nice, tidy, friendly staff. Recommend for staying:)
