Apartment style room with a nice view, friendly cleaning lady, but there are people smoking in the hallway instead of inside their own room very inconsiderate people. the breakfast is just ok, it's quantity over quality, busboy drop food on the floor while cleaning table but won't pick it up, guess he's there to work on a job that he don't like, that sum up the behavior of everyone that work in the restaurant. Good location right above the subway station.

The room is clean and nice. It has a mini kitchen with microwave and cooked BUT no utensils or anything.
2. No room service available- so only option is the breakfast at the 49th floor or going across the street for mcdonalds... the breakfast was decent enough 68rmb/person.
3. No hairdyer. Which I found to be basic in any hotel. Nor any information in the table. (Basic also)
Plus is near the subway.
The hotel is actually a residential/office building.. that they used some rooms as a hotel (the studio units I guess) so not much of a lobby. My friend was looking for a restroom at the lobby and there was none.
If you just need a bed. The room itself is clean. And the showers are modern and nice. The lacking hairdyer would be a concern if it was winter and no room service when you are tired means you need to eat the buffet dinner at 128rmb. When you only need soup.
A good hotel in Guangzhou...

I would like to share my experience staying at Vertical City Hotel in Guangzhou last month. I arrived in the afternoon and joined my colleague who has arrived and stayed in the hotel one day earlier. Therefore, check-in process was prompt (took less than 5 minutes) and I entered our room which was located in high floor (48th floor) in less than 10 minutes upon our arrival in the hotel.
Our room was clean, well maintained and everything worked properly during our stay (7 nights). The hotel is located above the underground station which makes it very convenient to travel around. Nearby there are many shops and restaurants as well as a Walmart store across the road (in the same side as Rosedale hotel).
Breakfast was good enough although it seemed the management reduced the area where they put all the food. Food selection was not as much as what they offered last year but it was good enough for us. Therefore, I recommend this hotel to everyone who is looking for quality accommodation when they are in Guangzhou next time.

The hotel location is great, just right above metro line 2 & line 8. I took metro directly from Baiyun airport, line 3 then change to line 2, about an hour ride. The change of metro line is easy, just walk over the platform. And it costs RMB8 only. What a bargain!
Plenty of restaurants within a stone throw away from hotel, including McDonald's, KFC, Pizza Hut, Starbucks and some local restaurants that operates until 2am. My favourite is the cafe in the next shopping mall building, Group Coffee. They serve great coffee.
There's a massage centre just opposite the road, next to Rosedale Hotel. Above McDonald's. They charge RMB98 for 70 mins foot massage. I went for a two hour massage and it costs RMB168, which is recommended!
My room is at 48 floor, comfortable and clean room. The hotel staff upgraded me to deluxe room.
My package comes with a 1 pax breakfast. The breakfast venue is at 49th floor. Great view, nice environment and great varieties.
Will definitely return for my next visit.

Seeing the good reviews on tripadvisor and such my family (3 adults) decided to give Vertical Hotel a solid try with no prejudice opinion but only looking to stay comfortably during our stay at Guangzhou. Being exhausted from getting off our flight at 9pm at night we got to the hotel thinking everything would go smoothly and we can finally get a good night's rest.
When we got there everything seemed okay, we showed them our booking confirmation print out to, which I shall point out that we had paid in August 2016 for 3 adults. Thinking that we could just quickly check in we patiently waited for the reception desk to process our booking and proceed to give us our room cards. We had made an arrangement with a travel agency to book for 3 adults specifically, on our booking confirmation it had said 3 adults however the lady at the desk insisted that they can not process that and we would need to pay an extra fee of 200rmb on top. We explained that we had booked for 3 adults and it has been confirmed by the hotel through the email, why would we need to pay the extra fee? She them informs us that they cannot allow 3 adults in 1 room and we would need to pay extra for that. When we booked the hotel, there were no specific terms of condition that stated that there was an extra payment needed for 3 adults.
As we had to travel out of Guangzhou for one night we had made another booking with them for an extra 2 nights, which came out to be considerably less (AU$80 equivalent to currently 400rmb) even though the booking was only made 1 week prior in comparison to a booking made in August 2016 (6 months ahead). They would not budge upon their decision and insisted that we must pay the extra money or else find somewhere else. Since we had paid for the rooms already and let me remind you, we were all tired after the flight we just could not continue to argue any further.
Reluctantly handing over the extra cash we proceeded to our room only to find that they had given us a smoking floor despite our booking clearly had our request for a non-smoking floor. We were simply too tired to argue any further, so we settled in the smoke filled room with much disappointment.
We were not pleased with the service provided, thinking that the next day would be easier after a night's rest to explain the situation we were only passed on from one manager to another both simply nodding their head and telling us that we did not book for 3 adults and the payment must be made. I am truly astonished to see the rapid fall in the service industry especially in Guangzhou despite having the expectation of being serviced properly in exchange for our hard earnt money, we were instead ridiculed for not being 'sneaky' or 'smart' enough when booking.
Greatly disappointed, not only me but also my family.
NOTE: we cancelled our other booking and booked the hotel directly opposite. We did not go on a holiday trip to argue with the hotel, but it was simply too ridiculous.
