Wonderful stay for our anniversary

colson3 on 24/10/2017 04:57

My wife and I spent a night this past weekend in the French Room. Pictures do not do the property or rooms justice, the themes and decor look even more incredible in person. The French Room really felt like a little Parisian studio and even had a nice little balcony to enjoy fresh coffee and breakfast in the morning. Rod and the staff provided excellent service and made for a magical weekend experience. I would highly recommend a visit!

First: This is NOT your typical B&B. Read the descriptions of the mansion carefully. If you want an adventure, this is the place.

I just can't say enough good things about the Victorian mansion, its staff and the owner Rod. We've been back to tray a different room in our quest to stay in each of the rooms (and hopefully the two new planned ones). This is definitely not your standard B&B. The detail given to each room and quirkiness makes it quite an adventure. You do leave the real world behind when you close your door to your room. We had a long chat with Rod about his endeavor and his plans. He has a passion for what he is doing with the Mansion and his love of it and the surrounding community is very evident. His staff also enjoy his vision and obviously enjoy their working there

From the décor to the amazing breakfast delivered secretly to your room each morning everything is an adventure. Even though this is a small town there are a number of things to do and a lot of nice restaurants to eat at.

An Adventure in Los Alamos

We needed a place to stay in the Santa Maria area visiting family and remembered an episode of California Gold with Huell Howser that took place in Los Alamos. The town has certainly changed since he recorded that program but we thought we would give the themed Victorian Mansion hotel a chance. So glad we did! We booked three nights in the 50s Suite and it did not disappoint! From the 1956 Cadillac bed, the juke box and a big screen for watching themed 50's movies, we really loved every minute. We met Rod, the owner who was so lovely and obviously very passionate about the hotel. Every detail is taken care of. Beautiful breakfast delivered to your own cubby, a Japanese soaking tub that was a perfect way to end a day of wine tasting in the area. The town is literally one street but the restaurants, the 1880 Saloon, the tasting rooms....all perfect! We will definitely be back and hope to try out another one of the the rooms!

I just want to write a review for this place so I can explain if you are someone looking for very quite place, this is it. This place located in a very small town. The mansion's employees all of them were very nice & helpful. The mansion is very clean. Their website's pictures are explain the theme of each room, & their explanation is very clear. When you come to the room you see exactly how they explain in their website. They were so on time with the breakfast. They bring the breakfast to the room through the secret passage. I love that concept. You don't have to leave your room & go sit in the certain time & eat. The only thing someone has to be concern about this place if you have issue with your knees or back. Because their beds are high. You have to take few steps to get in to the bed. That is something I recommend to the mansion mention it in their website. other than that everything was great. Also they don't have cable TV. This is good so you don't have to listen to the news. But they have DVD which each room had the old move which is go with the theme of the room. The mansion is great.
About the town there is no grocery market if you are looking to buy fruits, you have to shop before you get to this town.
They have 2 small liquor store. In this town they have few Antique store. If you Antique lover this is a good area to be. There is only one street. They have few local restaurants. We didn't eat here. We went to
Next town which was very close to eat.

One of a Kind

"The Vic" is truly unique. Each room is a work of art, and something to behold. You pick whether you want Egypt, Paris, a pirate ship, Rome, etc., and that's what you get.

The innkeepers, Denise and owner Rod, are delightful and do everything they can to make your stay enjoyable. Having breakfast delivered via a dumb waiter at the precise time you pick is a nice touch.

The only thing missing from The Vic is some interior common area to gather, but the building just doesn't have the space. If you don't need common space, you'll love it.

And, the town of Los Alamos is charming. Check out the Union Hotel Saloon, and Bob's Well Bread Bakery -- one of the best bakeries you'll find anywhere.
