Just return from a unique and memorable stay in Antigua. Guatemala. Muchas gracias to Jose & Brenda at Front Desk, Gina at Coffee Shop for their hospitality, they definetely made our vacation most enjoyable with their recommendations of what to do and see in the surroundings of Antigua.

The hotel is nested just few minutes away from Antigua by bus or taxi, well kept gardens, inmaculate room service, love the decor with antiques of the XVIII century. It was great to have a break in the evenings, sitting in the terrace enjoying spectaculars views of the volcanos "Del Agua" y "De fuego".

Gracias again Jose for your friendly and professional service!!

Pleasant but overpriced and far!

I just wanted to give a more recent review regarding this Hotel.
There's no doubt the hotel is beautiful and calm and staff are very nice and attentive.

A few things to consider when booking this hotel:

- it's 4-5km to Antigua city centre: one can easily take a bus during the day (for Q3) but at night you'd have to take a taxi which will cost $5-7 per person! There's no courtesy taxi anymore as someone said in previous comments. I wouldn't advise you to walk there at night either...

- breakfast isn't great considering what you pay for the room: you get concentrated orange juice, coffee and a plate consisting of some scrambled eggs, frijoles, slice of papaya and watermelon. Pretty basic for £70 a night in Guatemala!

- if you're planning a visit to one of the volcanos or a tour to nearby cities, you'd have to take a taxi to Antigua (which again will be $5-7 per person) as these tours tend to leave at 6am. Breakfast starts at 7:30 and there's no longer coffee and bread after 5am as suggested by previous comments!

- the room where we stayed was good but a couple of things that could be improved: there is no AC and the curtains don't really block the light so you'll end up waking up with sunrise!

Overall it's a very pleasant hotel and staff are extremely nice but overpriced and I would choose a hotel in Antigua city centre.

Wonderful

A last minute change of plan from staying in G City to Antigua found me at Vilaflor. Arriving by night it's a pain to find, the taxi drivers don't know where it is and even inside the compound it's location is not obvious. There's no food service other then breakfast as well, so caveat emptor unless you're happy with pizza or chicken for dinner.

In the morning though one is able to see just how gorgeous the hotel is. Calm, peaceful, beautiful. A real treat. There's some building work on progress at the moment which takes just a little of the edge off the experience, not hopefully this will be finished soon.

Breakfast is wonderful, and coffee and bread even is available before 5am for those on early flights.

There is a courtesy taxi to and from Antigua until 1800. After that there might be a charge. And Guatemala is more expensive for everything that one would think.

If booking an early morning taxi to the airport I suggest you be insistent that the driver fills up with fuel the night before so as not to waste 30 minutes driving in circles trying to find an open gas station!

A wonderful couple of night here, thank you.

Simply gorgeous, I wish it was my own little private retreat...

It's not often that you travel to a hotel and leave thinking you're actually gonna miss the place and the people, but it happens here. We stayed there with family and honestly felt like we were right at home. The place where it is located has it's own "antique" building, and the gardens where you can walk or jog in the morning like I did are simply stunning! They don't offer lunch and dinner regularly, but we were informed this is one of the services that will be provided sometime this year, I hope I can go back to test it! If you can stay here, and don't mind the short ride to Antigua (actually less than the 5 minutes they tell you it takes), then this is a jewel that will soon be discovered by many.
