Terrific setting with fabulous views and easy access to the nearby Valley of the Temples. Beautiful swimming pool and gardens. It is a five star hotel so do not expect budget pricing for anything. Outdoor dining was coupled with terrific service and lovely variety of tasty local ingredients. Nice selection of white and red local wines. Make sure you book an upstairs room with a direct view of the larger temples. You can walk (a bit) through the hotel property directly to the entrance and ticket area of the Valley of Temples. Spend a day or more and enjoy Italy's listed National Treasure in Sicily.

A true gem of a place. Small and intimate, excellent staff and service. Spacious and comfortable room, beautiful linens and towels. What more do you need? Great food and service in their restaurant, with ample choices for breakfast. Nice spa offering a sensorial bath and other services. Small gym as well. Unexpected... direct walking access to the Valley of the Temples through their property. Would have loved to stay longer!

We stayed here for two nights as part of a touring holiday in Sicily. The hotel is in a fantastic setting near to the Valley of the Temples, and one of them overlooks the terrace where dining takes place. Our room was fine and spacious. The food was excellent, although we found lunch expensive. The evening meal on the terrace, with the floodlit temple in the background, was very atmospheric.

We traveled for two weeks throughout Sicily and found the Villa Athena the only hotel we were disappointed in. If you have a room with a full view facing the Temple Concordia, it may be worth it. We were told in advance that we had a room with a view, but it was of the Temple Juno, very far off, on the other side of the restaurant that we looked out on. If you have a drink on the patio or have dinner at the restaurant, the view is breathtaking and very special. However, the staff at the front desk, particularly a young man, was not warm or welcoming or helpful. Weird for Sicily. Maybe it's because "This is a five-start hotel" which was his answer when we asked if the 18 euro price of a spritz was correct! (Max 6 euros anywhere else). The view at dinner is memorable, though the food is not. SO, it's all-out the view.

This is the absolute best hotel to stay at in the area - we had our luxury Italian-based agency make all our plans so we know. We very much enjoyed the Villa Athena during our stay in July 2016. We came to Sicily to site-see after a week of business in Rome. Villa Athena was a perfect place to stay during our visit to the Valle dei Templi. Thought the food and wine were terrific - (would be 2-3 times the price for the same quality in NYC or San Francisco). The service was professional, attentive and elegant. The salt crusted whole branzino was the best I've ever had. Our room was spacious and beautifully appointed. The drive between Palermo and Agrigento was not difficult once you get out of Palermo. Once in Agrigento we didn't drive - it was easy to get a taxi to go into the village.
