We stayed here with a group of people on transit to a cruise. We arrived at the same time as many other travelers so was very hectic. Took about 30 minutes to check in then there was the lift which was not like anything I had seen before. In the middle of a small stairwell the lift was as small as ever seen. Eventually we got to our very small room. Everything was immaculately clean and newly painted in dark turquoise colour with bird pictures on the ceiling. It was an experience and talking point to stay but would not be to everyone's taste. Breakfast would have been fine if enough room for all to sit down.

Room size is good, road noise is minimal. The building is incredible, great character inside and out.
Great offering of complimentary coffee and snacks in the reception, perfect after a day out.
Location to the train station couldn't be better for exploring the rest of the coastline.
But...
The walls in the rooms are paper thin, so next doors TV is crystal clear. The lift is very noisy.
Struggled everyday to get towels. Had to ask each day for some. And some days had to wait for the laundry to finish. Inconvenient!!

Location was great, railway station were near, and only short walk from beach and old town. Staff was friendly and very helpful. I loved all the details of the hotel, monkeylamps and design were amazing. Room was big and bed was perfect, there were everything what you need.

We enjoyed our stay at the Bougainvillea. The room was very clean, excellent shower etc. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was also excellent. Would definitely stay here again. Very well situated for travel whether by train, tram or bus.

My wife and I stayed 4 nights, 2nd floor at front, little road noise but slept very well, great staff, clean n funky decor, ample breakfast, good price. It's handy for railway and bus links, good sturdy shoes recommended, we walked miles.
