Appalling customer service

We have collected takeaways from The Travellers for years. It’s been expensive (verging on overpriced) but we have always enjoyed the food.
Tonight will be that last time we order food from The Travellers.
This evening I placed an order at 7.15pm. For the first time, we were offered free delivery, within 45 minutes to an hour. The food finally arrived an hour and 45 minutes later, at 9pm. No apology was offered. When I explained I was unhappy, I was told I would receive a phone call later to discuss whether we could be offered some form of compensation. When nobody phoned, I called the restaurant. I was told that I had been warned about a delivery time of an hour and a half; I hadn’t and if I had, would never have placed an order. The manager failed to acknowledge that the delivery was unacceptably late, and flatly refused to make any form of apology. Subsequently, one of her staff came onto the phone afterwards, clearly embarrassed about her manager’s behaviour.
Sadly for The Travellers, appalling customer service means I won’t use them again.

We went on a Wednesday evening. We were, for the first 40 mins, the only people there. Food is good but very spicy
Disappointing - With too many mistakes

Ate here Saturday night, have visited several times over the years and never had a disappointing meal, but to be honest it had been a few years since my last visit.
Arrived at 7.20pm for our 7.30pm booking and went straight to the bar to order a drink, the barmaid was on the phone with her back to me answering take away orders, for 10 whole minutes my presence was not even acknowledged until someone came downstairs with a take away order and noticed me.
At the table we made it clear one of our group had a severe nut allergy so no nuts whatsoever served in any dishes or dips, asked for mixed starters with no satay dips, they came with satay dips ! Checked that my daughters chicken skewers were nut free and that they could leave off the satay dip, it still came with the satay dip !
Asked for the crispy chicken with cashew nuts main off one of the set menus to be cooked without the cashew nuts, it came with cashew nuts !!! Ok they took it away and recooked it but these mistakes should not happen, could accept a slip up of accidentally putting a dip on a plate but to do it 4 times during the same meal is terrible the longer I think about it. Luckily we spotted the mistakes before the person with the allergy touched anything each time, but it should not have to be like that.
Starters were served in a reasonable time but then we had an 80 minute wait between starters and mains, kids were getting restless and eventually fell asleep, the excuse was they were busy with take aways.
The restaurant was half full, it was a Saturday night and they give priority to take aways over the people paying a premium to sit in the restaurant, that's how it appears to be now anyway.
On the positive side the food is still very good, we enjoyed it when it eventually came and although service was a bit sloppy the staff were nice, there just needs to be more of them, the young waitress serving us seemed to be serving every other table.
Even though we didn't kick up a fuss they knocked 15% off our bill so not sure if they are used to doing this often.
On this experience I would be reluctant to return, which is a shame as I really like the food.
Awful place. Awful service.

From start to finish, this place is a disaster. I've been visiting for close to 10 years and over the past 2/3 years its gone so downhill. On my three most recent visits, my main course has been forgotten about completely whilst the other 13 people I have been dining with tuck away with their food. The one and only waitress in the place is so rude its unbelievable, often trying to blame the lack of food on me not ordering it in the first place. I've never experienced service like it.
Not only is the service terrible, the restaurant itself is extremely dirty. There have been leaks from the floor above the bar area where the walls are still stained with wallpaper hanging off. The sofas are ripped and sellotaped back together. The walls have condensation mould all over them and the whole place smells like a damp cellar. I won't be stepping foot in the place again which is unfortunate as 10 years ago it was a great place to be.
Very very disappointing and expensive

So this is just my opinion if a Thai restaurants sticky Thai rice is tasteless and undercooked what hope is there for the rest of the meal. We had the Sharing starter platter to start which was 14.95 it contained 8 bits and pieces 3 little sauces and a small salad to say was disappointing is putting it mildly. I've mentioned the rice above so will leave at that. I had the yellow prawn curry and yes the sauce was tasty and plentiful however it's contents a few prawns. Half a chopped up potato and a couple of cherry tomatoes and all that for 10.90. Husbands red Thai curry duck did have more contents and again the sauce was tasty. Will we go again ? No.
