What People are saying

You need to speak Italian and enjoy siesta

aposi on 09/05/2010 15:08

I am the italian speaker so we got on fine at the resort, a lovely place with wonderful italian food. However my husband and kids are not italian so nobody else spoke and the children could not join in any of the kids activities. The staff just shrug their shoulders! It did not occur to them to make an effort as many do know a little bit of english. I suppose we are a little spoiled that wherever we go in they will speak english to the children eg Spain, Germany, Norway even France !! The enforced silencio after lunch (they close pool, everything) which would have been great - if we didn't have 2 kids who were not going to sleep !! then ours want to go to bed at 8pm and the party has just started for the italian toddlers. Ciao !

We loved Blue Marine

We are a family of 2 adults and 2 teenage daughters and even though we were the only English family on site we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The accommodation is very cleverly set out in an old olive grove and although the apartments are basic, depending on your choice, most have air con and outside kitchenettes which in August were a godsend. We found the staff and animation team to be very helpful and friendly but would suggest that you have basic Italian as menus and signs are all in Italian. The pools and flumes were clean and fun and the beach which is a five minute walk across the road from the village was beautiful but obviously crowded as it was August. You are not likely to find this resort in a travel agent's brochure but if you want something a bit different and are happy to try to speak some Italian you will enjoy yourselves as much as we did.

disappointed

Having wanted to book something away from all the standard travel brochures and tonnes of 'Brits' we found the village on the internet and it seemed to tick all of the boxes.

The pictures of the site on the internet, whilst generally quite accurate, completely misrepresented the beaches in the area. The resort has 2 beaches that it 'rents' sections of. Instead of being the idyllic quiet beaches as shown on the website, they were packed with rows & rows of umbrella's & loungers so that you couldn't move. They also regularly played loud music onto the beach, which was dreadful. In fact all of the beaches in that area were the same.

The pools were closed everyday from 1pm until 4.30pm which was a complete pain for our 2 boys.

Also, whilst the website appears to be quite UK friendly (having been translated into English). Only 1 member of staff spoke English (a fabulously helpful man called Michael) & there is only so much you can do with a dictionary & lots of gesticulating! None of the 'animation' staff spoke English so our kids couldn't really join in with the kids activities.

Last, but not least, our BIGGEST bug-bear was the unavoidable loud music from about 7pm-12am every night. It was without doubt the worst & loudest relentless racket that we have ever experienced on any of our holidays. It seemed unavoidable where ever you were on the site.

The site is well looked after and the accommodation basic but clean and relatively modern.

The music and beaches let the whole experience down for us.
