Decent Country B&B

We stayed here for a week with teenage kids. We organised surfing with a local school who recommended Trastolillos. Clean and comfortable B&B style accommodation. Owners were warm and welcoming. Be aware they do not speak any English but their warmth and kindness is conveyed nonetheless.
Truly rural location is tranquil. Only 5 minutes drive to Camilles where there is a wealth of fare available.
Very Spanish, very clean, good service and in sight of the sea.

We went to Los Trastolillos on the recommendation of a regular to the area and even in August, we were the only non-Spanish in the hotel. In fact this whole area west of Santander is where the Spanish take their holidays. You will need the odd "por favor" and "gracia", as English is in short supply but that is all and it is part of the charm of the place; the rest is all smiles and gestures. The hotel is small and set above a hamlet looking across fields to the cliffs and sea. Breakfast is pure Spanish of bread, cheese, meats and coffee. Kids run everywhere and no-one minds. Marga Herrera, the owner/manager, is chatty kndness itself.
