What People are saying

Birthday celebration.

maureenann18on 20/11/2017 03:45

Didn't stay here, but had dinner with family and friends for a birthday celebration. The menu wasn't extensive but ample enough to choose. My starter was a chicken and bacon Caesar salad, which consisted of lots of little gem lettuce leaves, cubed chicken and bread croutons, drizzled in mayonnaise, but no bacon!
Main courses were very good and presented well. The Arizona chicken was served with a chorizo sauce which was very tasty. Service was good and non intrusive.

Sunday Lunch

holidayseekeron 16/10/2017 17:23

Did not stay here just had Sunday Lunch . It was ok and a good price at £17 . We booked by telephone nad having never been there before went to the main restaurant and said we'd booked for lunch , we were seated and drinks order taken Then we noticed that there was no carvery and when we asked waitress said 'oh wrong place I wondered why you weren't on the list', surely then she should have initially checked that we were in the right lunch place I'm sure we were not the first people to have made this mistake, The carvery staff were very amatuerish we got our drinks order twice. Food was ok not a great choice compared to other buffets again service a bit chaotic only one set of serving tongs at the meat carvery for 3 staff members to share.

Disappointing

Had never been to Derry so was looking forward to my visit. On arrival reception staff were friendly and efficient. We were told we were in a beautiful double room although I had requested a twin. We decided to look at the room, bathroom was lovely having recently been modernised, but the room was small and the bed was't a double, somewhat smaller. Went back to reception where the receptionist agreed that beds were slightly smaller than double to make the rooms look bigger! Waited a little to get another room which seemed to have a real double and a single, old bathroom but can't have everything. Because of the location of the hotel you had to use taxis all the time, although taxis were cheap. Breakfast the next morning was a joke. The restaurant was more like a bar to me and a few tables at the side were set up for breakfast, not very welcoming looking and completely disappointed with breakfast. Packets of cereal sitting in a basket, 1 choice of bread (white), hot breakfast more or less thrown into their containers, hot water container sitting in the middle which had to be used for tea, what happened to your morning pot of tea, really would not encourage a person, everything very haphazard and hard to figure out never mind find. Had dinner in the hotel that evening which was lovely but if you wanted a drink after dinner you had to go to the snug bar, dark and noisy. Loved Derry but definitely won't return to the Waterfoot, nicer hotels in the city and much handier for getting out and about.
One thing to watch out for - on arrival I gave my debit card as my security but discovered on getting home that not only had my friend and I paid the bill between us with debit cards, the full amount was also taken from my security card, so I paid twice for a not very enjoyable stay. When I phoned the hotel the girl in accounts said that this was normal practice and it would take 3 weeks for the money to be credited back to my card. This certainly had never happened to me before, so be careful what card you use as your security on check-in.

Fantastic 60th birthday

angelac20172017on 03/10/2017 21:39

Denise you are a great anchor woman for the Waterfoot Hotel. From the moment of booking the venue for the 60th birthday party to arriving for the party everything was first class. You took all the stress of preparing the room away and the presentation of the room was second to none. Your front of house and banqueting staff are first class. Everything was presented with such ease and nothing was a problem. Highly recommended 10/10. AC

Great place

Very pleasant stay, comfy beds, lovely meals and decent price. On top of the list for next visit up that way. Easy road access although super busy roundabout just outside (not hotel fault) easy to get out of maiden city and donegal
