I was really expecting more from the glowing reviews here. My view from my balcony was of a huge tree, and was not pleasant. The room was fine for the most part. I did kill a bug or two that looked roach-like, but I definitely can't be sure. I was charged an extra daily fee for the third person in my family, which was a bit of a turnoff from the beginning. If I had to have a cot brought into the room, I'd definitely understand, but when there's already double beds in the room, it's highly unusual that I have to pay anything. I felt like I was being nickeled and dimed. The pier is okay, but apparently the water is shallow and there are fifty billion things that your line gets caught on when trying to reel it in. Even the experienced fishermen gave up. The breakfast is mediocre at best, and there's not nearly enough space to sit down. When we did sit down at the only available table, there was FREEZING air blowing out of a vent under the table, so much so that my whole lower half was almost numb by the time I got done with breakfast, no exaggeration.
The one true compliment I have is for the girl that was working the desk late into the evening on the day I checked in. She was so much friendlier than the woman who I believe is the owner, and she really went out of her way to find local activities and sites for me. She went above and beyond.
If you find that this hotel is significantly cheaper than other nearby options, it might be okay. Otherwise, I think I'd try somewhere else next time.

This was a place my husband ,grandson and I went to view a rocket launch. It didn't launch the first morning but did the next. We had a fantastic view from the Inn. The room was clean, the staff was very friendly and the price was good. I have never seen such a beautiful sunset!!!!

My brother & I booked Waterside Inn for their 'Lunar Special' to see NASA Orbital's Antares rocket launch last weekend. After driving over to Wallops Visitor Center @ 4:30AM to catch the 7:37AM launch on the 11th (the down to the last minute aborted launch due to a private aircraft flying in the no-go zone) we decided to watch the re-scheduled launch on the 12th from Waterside Inn's pier. Great view & an amazing experience made even better by NASA representative, David Wilcox, who answered our myriad questions & shared real-time video from the control center as the rocket entered orbit. A big thank you!
Waterside Inn views from our 2nd floor balconies wowed, especially catching a spectacular sunset! Comfortable, spacious rooms, friendly (& helpful) staff made our stay memorable (& my brother thoroughly enjoyed the biscuits & gravy for breakfast!)

This hotel was wonderful. The service was awesome. Front desk was very helpful with advising on local attractions and directions. The water view is very calming. The room was clean and spacious. The breakfast was pleasantly surprising Sausage gravy, biscuits, waffles and much more. Would go back in a heart beat.

Just returned from the Waterside and had a great time! The room is large and the bathroom updates are nice. Needs a bit of grout work. The staff was more than kind and friendly. Breakfast had a nice little variety. My only issues were that the room was not that clean and had a musty odor. We found the refrigerator had red sticky stuff all over the bottom and the bedside table was also sticky with glitter on it. Also, the bedding needs cleaning or changing. Felt and looked dirty.
Bonus was there was a launch from Wallops. Some many from the hotel and staff were outside early to enjoy.
Would I stay again--absolutely! This place is a charmer.
