Our high expectations were shattered at the very first moment. (10th November, 14.00 hours).Receptionist was very slow and not professional - failed to explain properly the preauthorisation swipe of £50.00 on the credit card. She also did not know anything about vouchers for gym/swimming pool. Is it appropriate to speak a language other than English to a porter in front of the customers? Again, on checking out we discovered £38.00 included in the bill for the bar/restaurant - nothing however has been ordered and I( never signed any receipt for the sum. The amount was immediately removed and the manager apologized. We could forget about this incident if it had not also happened to our friends who checked out just before us and also had a problem of an incorrect order on their bill. So, customers, be vigilant to check your bills before you depart. Overall our experience at the West Lodge was satisfactory: good breakfast, good service? good room, though the shower definitely needs upgrading (room 26).

Greeted at the door by warm and friendly staff we had an excellent stay here. Front desk staff were helpful and friendly. We had a good lunch and breakfast the following morning.
The room was warm, clean and tidy but a little small.
The tiny complaints we do have were;
Limited access to one side of the bed in our room.
The plumbing, while perfectly functional, needed new taps (sticky), new shower head and controls.
These did not detract from a very good experience and we would highly recommend this hotel.

Approaching West Lodge Park Hotel along its tree lined drive, is like driving up to a stately home, it is amazing to find such a haven of peace and beauty so close to London.
My wife and I have just returned from a one night stay, we only wish we could have stayed longer. Not only is this a magnificent hotel, with beautiful décor and awash with works of fine art, but the staff are so friendly and helpful, you feel you are staying in a private house, not a hotel.
The food in the restaurant was amazingly good, the hake that I chose for my main course just melted in the mouth and was bursting with flavour. Breakfast was also first class with an excellent choice of hot and cold food and drink.
The grounds are delightful to walk around and with 800 variety of trees, there is plenty to see, and many photographic opportunities.
Our bedroom was a very good size, and very tastefully decorated with everything we needed for our stay, including gowns and slippers. The bed was very comfortable, and we had lovely views over the grounds.

The grounds are beautiful, rooms comfortable but the staff really make this place. Big thanks to Matthew who was a star and really helped. Recommended stay, the food is good but quite expensive is the only possible downpoint.

Having previously visited on Father's Day we thought we would get some fresh air once again, having dropped some friends off at Cockfosters Station, and go for a walk in the arboretum on the way home. What a nice surprise to find, by chance, that there was a National Garden Scheme open day and no less than Andrew Beale himself giving guided tours for a fee which went to charity. I would greatly recommend you visit the arboretum when Andrew is giving a talk. His knowledge of trees, their history, where they are grown etc is extensive and he presents it in a way that is very interesting. He really encourages you to get up close to the trees and look at them properly! We had a great afternoon - thank you so much Andrew!
Pleasantly finished off by tea and cake in the restaurant. What nicer way to spend a Sunday afternoon!
