The Westin Wall Centre hotel next to the airport was my recent stop for an early flight the next day. I arrived late and left early, so my review is for the service and room only. I never ate or used any of the other amenities.
So let's get to it.
The good.
The hotel is next to the airport.
It was literally a 4 minute drive, maybe 6. That was without traffic as I got to the airport around 5am.
The shower as amazing, massive and beautifully tiled with a glass surround.
The room was incredibly clean.
The hotel is modern.
Check in went smoothly and staff were friendly.
All the beginnings of a beautiful stay...except it wasn't.
The bad.
The directions and signage were awful. We thought we were lost multiple times. Could be the construction going on all around it.
Trying to find the hotel and trying to get your car dealt with was effort, which at 11pm is annoying. The valet was not amazing, or to be found.
Standing out front or at the valet's desk doesn't get you a person or your car. You have to sit in line at the desk, so make time for that. As it is a traveller's hotel, there is always a line at the front desk.
The front desk area is quite small for such a busy hotel.
The ugly
The bed.
What is a hotel but a bed?
The bed is the most important part of a hotel stay, behind cleanliness.
This bed was terrible. I arrived late, needed to sleep before my early flight and got none.
The bed wasn't alone in this though, the pillow was also against me. It too was awful. These hotels that charge an arm and a leg to stay at them and only refurbish the decor, drive me nuts. It's like putting lipstick on a pig.
Change out your old beds and put some money into the mattresses.
Also, buy some better pillows... Flat, poor quality, old feather pillows are a nightmare for every traveller. It would be nice if they would have some variety too, like some of the better hotels I've stayed with. Have a couple different pillows for the varying travellers. Some feather, obviously better quality than these, and some foam or fluff filled pillows would make a huge difference. My god, my neck was aching for a day.
The noise.
There is a lot of noise outside of this hotel, they give you earplugs for this. I've never stayed in a hotel where ear plugs were just offered next to the water, along with a sign suggesting they were sorry for the noise you were about to hear. Very odd...
All in all, I won't be back.
When I am flying out of Vancouver at 5am, I need sleep. I was travelling to the US on business and spent the entire first day there a zombie. I do not recommend this hotel for the busy traveller. You can do better.

Check-in was friendly. Staff went out of their way to provide excellent customer service. Good location. We walked to the Boathouse restaurant nearby. Room was comfortable and clean. We had a view of the city/harbour. The sounds of airplane engines was reduced. Enjoyed breakfast at The Apron restaurant on the man floor. Easy check out. Would definitely stay again.

This is a very nice property, a short cab ride or long walk form the airport (they do have shuttles). The rooms seem to have been recently renovated, with the bathrooms in particular being rather upscale. Nice touch of tile and glass. The rooms are spacious and quiet. My only complaint would be that the mattress was too soft to the point of being saggy; however, I did sleep well! The lighting could have been brighter as well. Service was excellent - typical Westin style.

I booked this hotel through my air miles program and was not disappointed. They accepted pets and even brought my dog a bed and a mat with bowls. Room service was very fast and I had the best dinner I've ever had at a hotel. The meal was amazing. The front desk accommodated my needs to switch to a lower floor. The room was gorgeous, clean and bright.

Checkin
My travel plan was not completed finalized for the next few days at checkin time. I had multiple separate reservations made just for the flexibility of canceling them if I don't need them. Mia at the front desk helped me a lot at checkin, trying to get me staying in the same room as if I decide to stay for a few more days. Although I didn't get a significant upgrade to corner room or suite, I was settled down at least for the uncertainty of my length of stay. I would really like to take a room with YVR view next time since I'm an aviation fan and I enjoy watching flight landings.
Room
Room is newly renovated, clean and spacious enough for solo business travelers. I enjoyed the white tea aloe series for my showers as always.
Club lounge
The lounge is under my expectations as in other Westin properties. Not that many choices for breakfast. It does have Coke Zero sugar and Sprite Zero.
Parking
There are plenty of parking slots. However, it doesn't save you money (actually extra taxes are charged) if you register your vehicle with the hotel and you don't need in and out privileges.
Overall
It's a good choice if you are an aviation fan and ask for a YVR view room. Close to all good restaurants in Richmond.
