I chose this hotel DESPITE some bad reviews. It was a one night stay on our way to wine country - tours start in The Wharf area and I figured even if the Inn was terrible - it was convenient and we could deal with it for one night.
The room was better than fine, it was clean ... the front desk attendant was very friendly. Onsite parking was great - The Big Bus tour busses are literally parked right across the street

This was a good place to spend a night before enjoying all the sights in the downtown San Francisco area! Clean, simple, but very comfortable. Hotels this close to the touristy area are NOT cheap. However, compared to some places, this one is safe (includes a safe place to park your vehicle) and is reasonable!
No breakfast, coffee in the lobby.

Hotel is a great location, includes free parking, and is in walking distance to great tourist stops. The photos of the rooms to seem quite accurate, the walkways, elevator and rooms are much more run down. It was a fine stay for one evening and had everything that we needed. Upon check-in, we received the room key and went up but the room had not been cleaned, they provided a new room immediately. You can pay $25 extra for early check-in.

we stayed at The Wharf in September 2017, the location of this hotel is great. They offer adequate rooms for the price that could do with a little updating (you get what you pay for).
They did not have a breakfast option but have restaurants close by, there was no pool In the facility which is abit of a let down. on check out I went to make my self a coffee and noticed that they had little bugs crawling no their sugar I was a little disappointed and notified the staff right away who were very apologetic.

Our traveling companions booked two rooms here for October 26th, originally for two nights through a third party website. We cancelled one night due to a family conflict which was a nightmare but did lead to us getting to know Amy P through phone calls well, the day desk staffer. She was very friendly and VERY helpful, and put the best foot forward on what I can only describe as a dilapidated 1959 hotel that has seen better days for sure! The bed was comfortable, carpets exceptionally worn, no A/C and poor ventilation, good hot showers from a very tricky faucet and free parking which was great and pretty secure. The housekeeping was exceptionally friendly and did a great job with what they had to work with. Sheets and towels were clean and smell-free. Bathroom was decently sized and came with cotton balls, Q-tips and a hair dryer, as well as soap. There was a small water heater present for tea, but coffee was only available in the tiny lobby. Thanks for the Andes mints and the granola bar (continental breakfast?! LOL).
So I mentioned Amy, the absolutely BESTEST part of this place! She really went out of her way to be helpful and was full of great information! The location can't be beat if you want to be at the Fisherman's Wharf area, which is steps away. There is a super souvenir shop next door, and McDonalds around the corner, along with Big Bus Tours across the street which Amy recommended, we used and LOVED!
I'd stay here again with low expectations and wouldn't be disappointed. Nothing in SF is cheap, so I think this was a good value for what it was. I slept well (although hot) in Room 202 which was an interior room directly overlooking my car, which was nice. There's really not much lipstick you can put on a pig to make it more attractive, so staff makes the difference, and for me, she made the pig attractive. Thanks Amy for giving us a great experience!
