Comfortable room and outstanding bed . Breakfast is great especially if you get it included in the reservation. Our preferred waiter is Roy from Germany.
Check in was seamless and the young lady gave us an upgraded room. Loads of space and beautifully appointed. Good bathroom with separate shower and tub .

The loacation is great, but this is not a luxury hotel by any stretch of the imagination. The hotel really needs to be renovated. I was shocked at how awful my room looked. I paid extra for a room with a view and when I arrived all I could see was a balustrade. I asked the front desk if that is what they meant by a view and they said that was it. Wow. In any event, the best part of the stay was the concierge who gave me some great advice about a few sites of interest. I was out all day and came back after dinner. The bed was uncomfortable, but not awful. However, I awoke on Saturday morning very early to really loud music playing right outside the window. It was coming from speakers the hotel had installed by my window. I had to leave because it was so annoying. I went to the front desk to let them know about it and had to wait 15 minutes because the staff were talking amongst themselves about what they did the night before. When I finally got their attention, they told me there was nothing I could do. I went out to visit some museums, but when I came back I asked for the manager and he did move my room to a larger room, which I did not ask for and sent a bowl of fruit. However, I ordered some beverages via room service that never arrived after calling twice. The bottom line is this hotel is so poorly run and so in need of renovation, I could not tell anyone to visit, particularly when there are so many other places to stay in DC that are so much nicer.

I stayed at the Willard for one night on business. It was an easy two-block walk from Metro Center and the hotel is right next to the White House grounds, as well as many restaurants and shopping. The area is very walkable for tourists.
Overall, the Willard was a lovely classic hotel with lots of history. I arrived early (prior to normal check in time) and was immediately accommodated with a room. I loved the view of the courtyard from my window (see photo).
I found the room to be exceptionally large and the beds to be extremely comfortable. I loved the Illy Espresso Maker in the room. I also appreciated the robes and slippers. The bathroom was well appointed with excellent shower pressure and plenty of hot water. There was definitely some wear and tear evident in the room (desk and bathroom cabinet), but I easily overlooked this as everything else was stellar. I did not use the mini bar, but ordered room service. To be quite honest this was was exorbitantly priced, but understandable due to the location.
I was very pleased to be accommodated with a late check out and found all of the staff to be extremely friendly and helpful. The lobby area is gorgeous and I loved the little gift shop. I really wished I was able to stay longer as this hotel is an excellent spot for sightseeing in the DC area. I would definitely choose this hotel if returning to the DC area.

I travel frequently to DC on business. I stayed here back in 2014 for the first time and my experience was terrible. Had to wait till pm for my room to be ready and got the worst room in the whole hotel (actually not even cleaned...). When I complained, I didn't feel appreciated (or even discriminated - not native english speaker... and no patience on the other side...) by the manager.
This time it was completely different. My room was ready when I checked in (8am). It was beautiful and perfectly located (although they do need some upgrades). What made a big difference this time was that when I asked the front desk for restaurant suggestions the manager (Gabriel) gave excellent suggestions, was patient and even gave us a history lessons on the hotel and it's bar. He made us feel at home and we will consider staying here in the future (we usually go to the garden inn).
Location is great and very good for walking to all our meetings.

Beware of false advertisements. The Willard is falsely describing their Willard King as having a Tempurpedic mattress. This is totally false. When I questioned them, they told me I was wrong and wanted to know what website I was using. I was using their own website. A month later the description remains unchanged.
We had to wait so long for them to bring our luggage up, my husband finally gave up and went down to get it himself. No one even noticed. It took them quite some time before they noticed it was missing and called the room. We had waited between 20 and 30 minutes before my husband took the luggage up.
Finally, and most offensive, was the room we were provided was not ready. I worried that the room had not been cleaned, as the minibar was mostly depleted. I called immediately. They sent someone up, approximately one hour after that call. She took inventory and left. We were never provided any bill at the hotel, so did not notice until my credit card showed charges we could not explain. They charged us in excess off $46 for a minibar we never touched.
I tried to resolve with the hotel directly for a week. After a week, I receive a call telling me they are making everything better. They offered us points on a rewards we would never use again given how things were handled. When I asked if the charges had been fixed, she told me she did not have the power. What had she been doing for the past two days. So after my formal complaint a week ago, with absolutely no response, as promised and my having the 'escalate' the issue a week later, still nothing is fixed.
There are several amazing hotels of equal or higher quality within a couple of blocks of the Willard. I would recommend any of them over the Willard, if you value the quality of your stay.
