setting rural outside Arbroath
64mayoon 03/11/2017 11:07Good food and warm comfortable rooms . I tried the Arbroath smokies for breakfast . The B& B is very traditional in furnishings although superb modern shower and huge comfortable bed in which I had great sleep during my stay
Late Night Check in
Ken Gon 12/10/2017 20:39Just on the outskirts of Arbroath an excellent jumping off point for exploring Angus.
The only let down with this place was the fact that the landlord did not seem to mind the cold, coming from a long way down south the house was a fridge. Plus the check in time was very late 1800 hrs not usual.
My room had twin beds and no desk, armchair or anywhere to actually relax unless you went to bed which I did not want to do at 1900hrs. Fortunately I went ashore to visit my daughter and we went for a meal in one of Arbroaths restaurants. I also borrowed a heater from her to warm my room. In the Summer it might be different with the warm but the ambience was not at all welcoming and unfortunately I had booked in for a while.
Mine host was genial enough and prepared a very nice breakfast but the PR needs a bit of a brush up.
I had a fairly good sleep although the bed was not the most comfortable that I had slept in and thanks to my daughter I could shower in a warm bathroom.
Not a place to visit once Autumn/Winter is upon us unless you take your thermals.
Stunning!
PaulineFothergillon 25/07/2017 11:14One of the most beautiful B&Bs we have ever stayed in. The bedroom was large, airy, comfortable, exquisitely decorated and with everything you'd expect from a five star hotel. Peter and his lovely wife were attentive, kind and considerate. Words cannot express how amazing the breakfasts were: we had the local delicacy, Arbroath Smokie, on our first morning there - we have never tasted anything so sublime! Added to that the strawberries on the breakfast table were fresh and sweet and the bread HOME BAKED and delicious. The whole place and its atmosphere equates with excellent taste and discernment. Would recommend it to anyone who appreciates quality and good, old-fashioned service with a smile. Loved every minute of our stay there.
One of the best B&Bs we've stayed at
mrsY79on 23/06/2017 20:47We were increadibly lucky to drive up to the Willowbank House by chance after seeing the sign at the side of the road. The big double room we've had is huge and decorated with so much love. We felt at home instantly. There is not much to do in the area, but you can profit from the large DVD collection at the B&B and you have your own sitting area oustide on the terrace where we observed little rabbits in the morning. Peter is an amazing host who cooked a wonderful breakfast for us and was kind enough to help us with tips on where to drive next. The price is only slightly higher than for other B&Bs, but definitely more than woth it. We highly recommend the Willowbank House and would definitely stay there again if we are ever back in the area.
Comfy stay off the beaten path
Dana Son 13/06/2017 19:13Never stayed at a B&B before but this exceeded my expectations. The water in the shower was hot and good pressure. The bed was actually comfortable. The staff (Peter, the owner) was very nice to us. I didn't make it to my breakfast but my friend said it was the best eggs she's ever had (Peter is a chef!) It is very old and charming, not my style at all but can be described as old world charm maybe? We spilled a little beer on the couch and had to pay $170 to replace it, so that was a bummer, but otherwise we had a nice stay. I'm sure I'll never make it back to Arbroath but if you find yourself in this tiny town needing a place to stay then it's not a bad option.
