Enjoyed dinner here twice as it was so good, the staff were really friendly and welcomed us into the pub. The atmosphere was lovely and the food was well produced and very tasty, had a few drinks and enjoyed the ambiance with the other guests of all nationalities.

Stayed at the Vagabond Lodge. They do not do dinner but recommended the Winston. What a nice place and what a nice feel. The staff were friendly and very good. The food was great. Not fancy but traditional. Really nice atmosphere. Would definetly recommend.

My wife and I had a one night stay here after a drive from Kelowna, seemed a good halfway point to Banff/Lake Louise.
We had the nicest greeting I've ever had at a hotel, thank you John for the hospitality, even with our late check in!
Room was cozy with a balcony and a skylight!
Great place to stay for a night or two if visiting golden, room was clean, and staff were extremely nice!

We only stayed one night on our way from Calgary to Kamloops but I wish we had stayed longer. The bed was very comfortable, the room was clean and nicely decorated. We only met two people who worked there as we left quite early but they were very pleasant. The tub in the room was huge but the stopper was broken so no soak for me.
It's a bit away from Golden, on the top of a mountain but that means it's really quiet at night. We got a big kick out of the beware of bears sign (and yes, we heeded it!)

My husband and I needed a place to stay one night on our trip from Glacier National Park to Kelowna, BC, in late September 2107. Golden was a good central location. Hotels were expensive there, so we thought the Winston Lodge would be a fun alternative (although it wasn't inexpensive either). The Lodge is very nice, however, it was obvious that it was off season. Our room was large, but very sparsely furnished and decorated. At about 9 pm, we realized that the TV didn't work. There was no information in the room about how to work the complicated TV/Cable Box setup. There was no information in the room about anything! No one was at the front desk, but a message said I could press a button to get assistance. When I did that, I was connected to a phone answering system. I left a message requesting some help with the TV. We never heard from anyone! Breakfast was served in the restaurant next door. It left a lot to be desired. We watched other guests inspecting the coffee cups because they were dirty. A lot of food was left on plates. Unfortunately, it was obvious that the resort was running with a skeleton staff. Hopefully it is better during high season.
