Hotel is OK: mostly clean rooms and sheets, good location. Included breakfast is average. We had an issue with our room being too hot. Gal at front desk said that housekeeping would be by to adjust A/C. When we returned to our room there was a fan going. They changed rooms for us the next day without issue, but sloppy execution—we went from a room for two to a room clearly for one: one glass, one hand towel, smaller bed. I feel they missed a big opportunity to make amends for an uncomfortable first night and should have improved our room, not downgraded it

We chose this hotel because of the location.The rooms are a bit dark and outdated,but
comfortable. The buffet breakfast is plentiful and varied. They offer a free shuttle to the airport, which was a pleasant surprise. The Internet service was pretty bad.
The best asset the hotel has is Luis, a very courteous and solicitous bell boy,who is always there to help. We had a very pleasant stay.

We arrived at the Wyndham on September 9th after a 6 hour drive from Trujillo. We were very impressed by the public areas and location but disappointed by the fact no one in reception was fluent in English. We were shown to our room, #335, and it was obviously very dated. There was even mould growing on the grout in the bathroom. Expecting a good night sleep we went to bed early only to be awakened at 8 pm when a meeting started in the open area by the pool. The speakers at the meeting were speaking through microphones and it was very loud.Why would a hotel book an amplified meeting in an open area instead of a meeting room? We waited until 9 pm before I went to reception to complain about the noise and was told the meeting would be over by 9:45. Rather than go to the trouble of changing rooms I decided to wait. Finally at 10 pm we were able to get to sleep only to be awakened again at 1pm by karaoke. Totally unacceptable!
The second day at the hotel we noticed that anytime we returned to the room there was a scent of air freshener in the room. Later when we returned to the room to sleep we understood the use of the air freshener -there was a sewage smell coming from the toilet. We closed the bathroom door and hoped for the best.
Finally the menu in the dining room is unilingual spanish. When no server is fluent enough in English to explain the ingredients in various dishes it is very frustrating for the guests. There should always be at least one staff member in reception and in the dining room that can carry on a conversation in English to clear up any misunderstandings that arise.
Based on our experience I cannot recommend the Costa del Sol Wyndham in Cajamarca.

I give this hotel an average rating due to dated rooms and volume. I chose this hotel for its location. It is right on the Plaza de Armas and while pricey for the area, it was a nice hotel. Their restaurant served tasty meals and a nice breakfast buffet. They also had a nice lobby area with 24/7 tea. The rooms were quite dated and worn but very clean and comfortable. It was loud (I was on 2nd floor) but again, rooms were old and perhaps doors were too thin? Also, they were pretty booked with events so that may have contributed to the loudness. There were other places on the Plaza that might be worth checking into at a more economical price point. When I reflect on the room itself and the noise level, I think there were probably better options on the Plaza that were similar but perhaps not as costly.

This was an incredible hotel that offered individualised service. In this hotel you are not just a Room number you are someone the staff genuinely take care of and listen to. I have never seen staff work so hard and yet look so happy.
The food was flawless, the breakfast menu changed daily and offered a variety of food, so everyday when you open the food warming tray you were pleasantly surprised—One day small baked potatoes with scrambled eggs, the next creamy chicken or beef in some delicious sauce.
I was also impressed with the cleanliness of this hotel, this is a hotel that takes pride in its presentation so when they clean they remove all the furniture–clean–and then replace the furniture. I saw them do this first for the foyer and then in the restaurant.
And if it's location you're after then you can't get better than being right in the centre of things, it is literally a doorstep away from the Plaza de Armas and with double glazed windows you don't hear a thing from outside.
What was important for me was: GREAT Internet, since I relied on it, tranquility and at the end of a hard day— a hotel that offered facilities such as a sauna, spa and heated swimming pool.
It is a hotel that is open to suggestions and actually takes them on board because it sees it's guests as priority so if there is room for improvement they are more than happy to hear and learn from your experience.
I am giving this hotel an overall 4 Star rating but believe that they are on the way to becoming 5 stars.
