Great location & rooms!
Hannah Ton 11/11/2017 16:33Enjoyed our stay at the YMCA. It was clean, beds and shower facilities were very comfortable, which was terrific considering the very affordable price. It's a good location for exploring the rest of Christchurch too - was within walking distance from most of the places we wanted to visit. Staff was warm and friendly and helped us check in even at 1am. Would fully recommend!
Great hostel experience
evitavedaon 29/10/2017 09:26This hostel is located close to the botanic gardens, the Canterbury Museum and is a short walk away from the most central areas of Christchurch.
If you ever find yourself in the triple ensuite room, as I did, you will not lack for anything. You're provided with a towel (which they change every day if you want them to), coffee/tea/hot chocolate, fridge, kettle, shampoo/conditioner and soap. The beds are very comfy and come with an electric blanket for cold nights.
The staff are very helpful with everything, including booking taxis and giving suggestions as to where to eat.
The hostel itself looks better than any hostel I've been to. The communal areas are large and spacious and neatly decorated. The whole place gives off a good vibe, and if I ever come back to Christchurch I'd want to stay at the YMCA again.
Great location to explore Christchurch!
Rachel Von 25/10/2017 05:032 friends and myself booked 3 nights in a private triple room at this hostel via the app Agoda, which worked out at £16 a night for each of us which is really reasonable for a hostel.
We were really pleased with the room itself - comfy beds, tea/coffee/hot chocolate sachets with a kettle, private bathroom with a nice warm shower, towels and shampoo provided, and a fridge in our room as well as in the communal kitchen.
The whole place is really clean, and the kitchen is well stocked for you to make any meals you need there (which isn't usually the case for most hostels I've stayed in!) There a couple of small communal areas, one with a TV and dining table which is a nice touch.
The location of the hostel is great, just over the road from the botanical gardens and within easy walking distance to cafes and shops.
I would definitely stay here again!

TheQueenEmelieon 05/09/2017 11:12I have probably spent my last 3 weeks in different hostels almost every night and this hostel definitely took spot nr 1 with the good and easygoing staff in reception and enjoyable rooms. We had a lovely 6 dorms with comfortable beds and free wifi!! that for once actually was pretty decent for being a hostel. The showers were amazing? I thought I was at a hotel for a moment when I saw how fresh and nice they were. Definitely recommend to stay here if you need something for an average price. The costs for a night was 33 dollars which its decent for being the South Islands.
Good hostel in a good location
aholding2014on 06/08/2017 21:13We stayed here 1 night and we're lucky enough to have an undated 3 bed dorm. It was spacious and no bunk bed in site which was lovely. The rooms were clean and had plenty of blankets to keep us warm. We each had a light however it seemed like there was only 1 charger point for the room but I could be mistaken and we just couldn't find it. The kitchen and bathrooms were clean and well maintained. Great facilities with a gym if you feel up to working out. The staff were really friendly. We were situated right next to the botanical gardens which was lovely. I would happily stay here again.
