The staff at reception were lovely. We stayed in a private room, which was simple, clean, and comfortable. The kitchen was clean and tidy, as were the bathrooms. Essentially, everything was great, and you cannot beat the price, especially since it is a non-profit.

This hostel is located in an amazing spot... Right downtown, on the river's edge and in the shadow of Mount Rundle. That is a definite plus. However, for me, the hostel was very clinical, and didn't have the atmosphere that you would expect in a hostel... No common areas, not much mingling of travellers, etc. After two nights, I moved on to the HI hostel in Lake Louise.

We heard about this hotel from friends and decided to try it. While it could use some work (in particular, the carpet in our room needs to be replaced), this hotel provides an affordable place to stay, if you would rather spend on other things such as meals. The location is excellent, just on the other side of the river from downtown. One disappointment is that the restaurant was not open and apparently hasn't been for some time. However, laundry and kitchen facilities are available.

Our private bedroom with en suite was simple, small, but served its purpose well for a 3-night stay. Easy driving and walking access to downtown Banff. Hotel staff was professional, friendly, and efficient. I would return in the future.

I stayed at the Y for a total of seven nights during two separate stays and both experiences were fantastic. The entire staff is incredibly professional, polite and accommodating. I spent a total of three weeks in town and couldn't find a better price, value or location. The house keeping staff does an amazing job keeping the place spotless. If I was forced to find something that I didn't love, it would be the insanely noisey bunk beds, and if that's the worst that I have to say, then I'd say they do a pretty great job. Thank you so much to the entire staff!
