Emanuel and his team is the most friendly and welcoming host. They made my stay like home. They are very accommodating, laundry service was prompt and timely. I stayed here for 4 nights total, 2 nights before my climb of Kili and 1 night after the climb and 1 night after my safari. They help stored my excess luggage in between the climb and safari.
I would recommend avoiding the room that face the courtyard/office/lobby area. The rooms on the side give you more privacy.
Breakfast was lovely and prices for food are very reasonable. The staff always greet you with a smile.
A little oasis ...

I spent one night at Zawadi House before heading out on a walking safari. Upon arriving at the Kilimanjaro Airport, I looked around and it appeared that my driver and ride were not there. I ended up catching a cab for the rather long drive to Arusha and finally, we turned down a side street onto a very bumpy road through a very real looking Arusha neighbourhood. At this point I wasn't sure what would await me, but from the moment the main gates opened, Zawadi House felt just like a little oasis!
It is a small property with a beautiful 'boutique' hotel, with lovely manicured grounds! I can't say enough about my greeting from Emmanuel and Namae. They were both so welcoming, warm and hospitable and as I was quick to learn, they would both go out of their way to make my stay very pleasant! No request was too small or too large. And always with a smile! All the staff were courteous, professional and so very friendly, and they clearly take pride in their work and this property.
The hotel has a very 'days gone by', airy, calm, relaxed, homey feel to it. There is a lovely small bar just off the lobby and a very nice dining room upstairs. My room was comfortable and clean and had a much needed HOT shower after coming from a camp in Nairobi with only cold water. Bliss ...!
Emmanuel is the lifeblood of Zawadi and he worked very hard to accommodate all guest. Making airport runs very late at night, and still being there first thing in the morning to make sure our group got a great send off. I'm not sure he even got any sleep, but none-the-less, he was there - happy, smiling and making sure we had breakfast and anything else we might need before we headed off.
My only complaint is that I never got to stay longer! :) Thank you so much to Emmanuel and his great staff for making my far too short a visit, the perfect start to the rest of my perfect journey! I hope I get the opportunity to stay again!
I highly recommend a stay at Zawadi House - you will not be disappointed!
Perfect place to land in Arusha!

Stayed here for 2 nights on arrival in Arusha before going on safari. Is a very lovely boutique hotel, great value for money. The staff was very attentive and helpful, on several occassions arranged taxis for us and used personal phones to confirm our tours and drivers -- at a larger hotel in the city centre we asked reception to call our driver and they wanted $2USD! These small courtesies go a long way in my opinion! Airport pick up was smooth, Emmanuel even found me an atm on our ride to the hotel so I could withdraw cash! I only had breakfast at the hotel, it was standard fare but plentiful and good quality. There is a nice little bar area. More outside seating would be nice in the garden area though. Rooms were spacious and clean.
The hotel itself is located just outside the main city centre, down a fairly long bumpy road, but as I said, the staff readily arrange transfers for you, so it was not an issue at all for us. A little oasis.
My only complaint is that they didn't take credit cards, despite having said they do when I asked ahead of check in. The machine "wasn't working", although it somehow started working right after we paid cash to settle our bill...
Like home

Zawadi house is pleasant and well kept. The staff are very attentive and willing to bend over backwards for you. The rooms are clean. The place feels like home with a laid back atmosphere. I may recommend one thing. The dining room needs some ambient music. Thanks for a good stay.
Great and personal service

I, along with five friends from college, recently stayed at Zawadi House & Lodge for 3 nights, 2 prior to our 8-day trek up and down Mount Kilimanjaro, and 1 day after it was over before we flew home. Overall, the service was excellent and I would highly recommend it.
Set in a gated, secure area off Kundayo Road in Arusha, Zawadi House has only 13 rooms, making for a lovely, warm and personal feel. This feeling is only enhanced by the staff, the heart and soul of whom is the manager, Emmanuel.
Always smiling, capable and courteous, Emmanuel went out of his way time and again during our stay to take care of all of our needs, including picking us up from and returning us to the international airport at the most inconvenient of hours. The other employees at Zawadi are no less pleasant or helpful, including the assistant manager Ivy, the bellhop Aleesha, the housekeeper Neema and the chef Noemi.
The rooms are clean, the shower "super hot" as advertised and the food adequate. The TV offerings are poor although we didn't spend any real time in our rooms and came to climb Kili not watch television.
In sum, it is my pleasure to write this review on behalf of Zawadi House. If and when I return to Africa, hopefully for a safari with my family, I hope to stay there again.
