What People are saying

Budget hotel - Be ready to adjust

Pacchhuon 15/05/2017 08:25

In contrast to many reviews, my family had a decent experience. Nothing great but nothing tragic as well.

It's a budget hotel and going by the rating of this hotel, you'll have to be mentally prepared for it's amenities or whatever it offers.

On our way to Coorg, we planned to spend some time at the Golden temple in Kushalnagar and then at Dubare Elephant camp. By the time we headed to Coorg, it was already late evening. Mr Naveen who was in-charge of the front desk had called us to check on our arrival timings and had got the rooms well prepared before our arrival. It was very kind of him.

The rooms were spacious and had required illumination ( both during day and night ). The beds were okay but didn't have foam beds. Hot water was available when needed but you'd have to waste couple of buckets of water, before you start receiving the hot one.

The hotel is aptly situated and most of the sight seeing places fall within the perimeter. The Raja seat, Omkareshwara Temple, Mariyamma temple and other locations are within a kilometer distance. My parents preferred walking to all of these places. The Greenland hotel is adjacent to the lodge and offers South, North & Chinese delicacies. It's more than a decent hotel and offers pretty good menu.

As many others have pointed out, yes, they do have cockroaches. We noticed some small one's when lights were turned off and near the bathroom vicinity. However, didn't notice any bedbugs or stains of their remnants. So, as mentioned in my title, good to go, if you can ignore the above mentioned issue.

The den of cockroaches and hoodlums

Soham Bon 16/03/2017 07:00

On Saturday, 11/03/2017, in the evening we reached Hotel Coorg Regency. The receptionist (who also boasted that he is the manager), had a poor attitude in addressing the customers. However, we ignored his arrogance and attitude problem. In the night we discovered after returning from the evening stroll that the room is full of cockroaches and that we locked up the entire room before leaving.
Bringing this to the notice of the so called manager, he told nothing can be done till the next day. When we pleaded , at least for an insect spray, we were told that all the shops are closed and that they have no stock of such sprays. This is inconvenient. Moreover, he went on saying that why don't we avail a 5-star hotel if we cannot sustain the mentioned problem. Does it require too much for an insect spray like Baygon or any other similar brand? This is a hotel reception! After that he addressed us as, 'prank making North Indians', he being a Kannada (South Indian). This hurt our sentiments and I am from East India. I asked him to hang up a board outside "South Indians Only". To our surprise the guy attacked me and one of the drunk men laid his hand on me. This is how they treat the customers with goons.
The brawl was cooled down by the boarders who had already gathered there late at night and that the so called manager and his goon had to apologize. I am thankful for the support of the local crowd of boarders and travelers that they made him return the entire sum of money we gave as a booking for the rooms.
In the middle of the night we managed to book another neighboring hotel and had to walk down there in the chilly night, with our wives, with great inconvenience.
Please don't think of availing Hotel Coorg Regency, as an option, as it is inconvenient to stay there and if questioned, your minimal inconvenience would be answered with bare knuckles of the hoodlums and drunk street dwellers who walk in the hotel anytime, blasting the minimal security of travelers and families.

HORRIFIC EXPERIENCE... DONOT GO - MANAGER AND HIS DRIVER SLAPPED A CUSTOMER

Sreyashirayon 16/03/2017 06:17

It was a horrifying experience for us. Stay tune till last to know why COORG REGENCY IS A BIG NO-NO. I went with my husband and another couple Last week during HOLI'17. When we entered the hotel, the manager who seats in the reception was very unwelcoming and throwing attitudes. after that when we went to the designated room, it was soooo dirty that I cant even explain. bathroom was dirty with cigarettes butts lying all over. Bed was so rough and untidy. And then here comes the final blow, rooms had cockroaches all over. and when my husband and his friend went to complain about it and asked for a repellent, the manager was so rude to tell to "Adjust for a night".. How can one sleep with cockroaches and bugs on the bed? There was a heated conversation between 2 of them and suddenly the DRIVER OF THE MANAGER WHO WAS HEAVILY DRUNK SLAPPED MY HUSBAND.... CAN YOU IMAGINE !!!!!!!!!! HOW DARE HE !!!! with the sound of all the mess, i rushed downstairs to see what was happening and learnt about the terrible incident. I was shocked. My husband even though he is strong enough to give a punch back to the manager and the driver was also shocked... I felt terrible but didn't loose my senses and fought back. I being a Lady striked back to the humiliation caused to my husband and people were all standing in shock. I screamed raised questions and then people around started gathering up against the manager. it was a horrible experience for us. I decided at once not to stay in the hotel. The manager after an hour of fight, had to return all the money for 3days that we paid. and we shifted to Hotel Mandarin at an odd hour of 1am in the morning !!! DONOT RISK YOUR PRESTIGE AND SECURITY OF LADIES TO STAY IN A "BUDGET HOTEL" LIKE THIS... NOT WORTH IT. THERE ARE LOT OF HOTELS LIKE PRESTIGE< MANDARIN, FREEMAN"S CAFE STAY, GO EXPLORE THEM. MEN IN COORG REGENCY ARE ATROCIOUS. MOST OF THEM STAY DRUNK FROM THE LATE EVENING TIME. IT'S A HUMBLE ADVICE TO ALL WHO"S PLANNING FOR COORG. AVOID THIS HOTEL. IT WILL RUIN YOUR TRIP.

Cockroaches all over..Dont risk for ladies...

Please dont visit this hotel. We complained manager that room has cockroaches and what he replies is "adjust for one night"..then he stated that "You north Indians needs 5-star hotel amenities".For which argument aroused and one of their staff slapped one of my friend. All the staff came to beat us.This is true incident and this happened at night around 11:30 PM and we were stranded finding for a room. We had ladies with us and they were scared to hell. Atlast we got a room in coorg mandarin hotel. The coorg mandarin hotel was so good and clean and in some extra price the room was worth it.

Average Budget Hotel in Madikeri, Coorg

We booked this hotel because we could get a room for three people with three beds. Details looked rosy in the internet. But actually this hotel offers bare minimum at budget prizes. Room was clean. Hot water for bathing available. But no restaurant attached. The one in the ground floor (not owned by the hotel) offers reasonable multicuisine food.

Big let down was that there is no wifi here.
